El Camino wins battle of ranked teams

In Wednesday night action across the state, 13th ranked El Camino went on the road and held off 12th ranked Irvine Valley to pick up thier sixth win in seven attempts. In other action Foothill and Compton picked up wins in non conference action on hoops around the state.

Irvine, CA Р(13) El Camino 87 (12) Irvine Valley 84 

In a game between ranks teams in Southern California Gavin Reagan had 21 points and 4 rebounds and Brandon Guerrero added 12 points and 7 assist as 13th ranked El Camino (6-1) opened up a 13 point halftime lead and held off 12th ranked Irvine Valley 87-84. Zach Harvey had 17 points and 4 rebounds and Mike Turner added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for Irvine Valley (4-2).

Compton, CA – (7) Compton 91 Grossmont 68

Jayvon Brown had 22 points, 9 assist and 7 rebounds and Anthony Fitzpatrick added 14 points and 5 rebounds as 7th ranked Compton (4-1) cruised past Grossmont 91-68 on Wednesday evening. Ronald Blain had 14 points and 12 rebounds and David Wheeler added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for Grossmont (3-4).

Los Altos Hills, CA – (13) Foothill 65 De Anza 62

In non conference action, Matt McAndrews had 15 points and Alex Gil-Fernandez added 12 points as 13th ranked Foothill (6-2) won their fourth straight game with a 65-62 win over De Anza (3-4).

San Bruno, CA – Skyline 65 (12) San Jose 57

In non conference action Skyline (5-4) handed 12th ranked San Jose (2-2) its second straight loss with a 65-57 loss in San Bruno on Wednesday night.

Aptos, CA – (4) Cabrillo 76 Siskiyous 73

4th ranked Cabrillo (5-1) won their third game in a row with a 76-73 win over Siskiyous (2-6). It was the fourth loss in a row for the Eagles. Zach Webster had 18 points and Tre Douglas added 15 in the loss for Siskiyous.
