Rams remain top team in Week 9 Northern California rankings

 

Signal The Light Basketball Week 9 Rankings

1. San Francisco (17-1): The Rams remain the top team in the state after going 2-0 last week. San Francisco picked up wins over Chabot and Skyline and have won ten straight games. The Rams are 2-1 against teams that are ranked within our rankings and have started off Coast North Conference action with two straight wins. This weekend, the Rams will face Canada tonight on the road in Redwood City in their lone game of the week.

2. Yuba (15-2): The 49ers stay put at number two in the rankings after picking up wins last week against Solano, Contra Costa and last night Yuba picked up a huge conference win over Marin last night. Yuba is 4-1 against teams within our rankings and will have two more games this week as the 49ers will host Napa and face Merritt on the road in Bay Valley Conference action.

3. Fresno (13-4): The Rams move up one spot in the rankings and up to number three in the rankings following two big wins to open up Central Valley Conference action. Fresno blew out Merced on the road 119-71 and followed that up with a road win over West Hills to start conference off with two solid wins. Fresno is 5-2 against teams that are ranked and will be in action twice this week as the Rams will host Columbia tonight and follow that up with a road game against Reedley on Saturday night.

4. Canada (13-4): The Colts move up two spots in the rankings following their lone win as Canada picked up a win over Ohlone. Canada has silently pushed their way into the top 5 and the Colts are 3-2 against teams ranked inside of our rankings. Canada will face 5th ranked Las Positas on the road tonight and follow that up with a home game against top ranked San Francisco on Friday night for two tough games within the Coast North Conference this week.

5. Las Positas (15-3): The Hawks drop two spots in the rankings following a 1-1 week to start off Coast North Conference action. Las Positas picked up a 75-73 win over Foothill last week but suffered a loss on the road against Ohlone to start off Coast North Conference action. Las Positas is 2-1 against teams that are ranked and will be on the road tonight against 4th ranked Canada in a battle of two top five teams and follow that up with a home game against Chabot on Friday night for their two games this week.

6. Feather River (13-3): The Golden Eagles move up one spot in the rankings after being off last week. Feather River is 2-2 against teams ranked inside our Signal The Light Basketball rankings and the Golden Eagles will be back in action after a month layoff and will open up Golden Valley Conference on Saturday on the road against Lassen on the road.

7. Santa Rosa (12-5): The Bearcubs move up two spots in the rankings after starting off Big 8 Conference action with two wins. Santa Rosa opened up conference play with a 75-54 win over American River and followed that up with a road win over Cosumnes River 74-66. Last night, Santa Rosa stayed undefeated in conference action with a 82-78 home victory over 8th ranked Diablo Valley. Santa Rosa is 3-5 against teams that are ranked and the Bear Cubs will travel to Modesto on Friday for second game of this week.

8. Diablo Valley (13-5): The Vikings dropped spots from last week after going 1-1 last week to open up Big 8 Conference action. Last week, the Vikings opened up conference with a loss against San Joaquin Delta and Diablo Valley followed that up with a win against American River. Last night, the Vikings lost a tough one on the road against 7th ranked Santa Rosa. Diablo Valley is 2-3 against teams ranked inside of our Signal The Light Basketball rankings and will next face Sierra at home on Friday for their other game this week.

9. Ohlone (13-5): The Renegades move up one spot in the rankings after going 1-1 last week to open up Coast North Conference play. Ohlone suffered a 90-79 loss against Canada to open up conference action, but followed that up with a huge home win against Las Positas to even out their record in Coast North play. Ohlone has gone 1-3 against teams ranked inside of our rankings and will have two conference games this week. Ohlone will face 11th ranked Foothill at home tonight and follow that up with a road game in San Bruno against Skyline on Friday night in their two games this week.

10. Marin (9-4): The Mariners drop two spots in the rankings after going 2-1 last week. Marin picked up wins against Alameda and Solano but suffered a set back against Los Medanos in Bay Valley Conference action. Marin also was in action last night and the Mariners suffered a 85-79 loss to Yuba at home as Marin dropped to 4-2 in conference action. This season, Marin is 3-2 against teams ranked within our rankings and the Mariners will face Contra Costa on the road for one more game this week on Thursday evening.

11. Foothill (11-6): The owls stay put at number eleven following a 1-1 week in Coast North Conference action. Foothill opened up conference action with a tough 75-73 loss against Las Positas and followed that up with a 72-52 road win over Chabot. Foothill is 3-3 against teams within our rankings and the Owls will face 9th ranked Ohlone tonight on the road for their lone game of the week in Coast North Conference action.

12. Butte (12-6): The Roadrunners moved up two spots in the rankings after going 1-0 last week. Butte picked up a win against the Simpson JV for their lone win of the week but other teams ahead of them suffered set backs for the instant jump. Butte has lost three of their last four games and have gone 2-2 against teams ranked within our rankings and will open up Golden Valley Conference on Saturday against Redwoods at home.

13. West Hills (9-5): The Falcons stay put in the rankings after going 1-1 last week to open up Central Valley Conference action. West Hills picked up a hard fought victory over Porterville 86-82 last week and followed that up with a tough home loss to Fresno 77-76 in Coalinga for their two games last week. West Hills is 1-3 against teams within our rankings and will be in action this week tonight against Reedley on the road and follow that up with another game on the road against 14th ranked Merced in Central Valley Conference action.

14. Merced (9-6): The Blue Devils drop two spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week in Central Valley Conference play. Merced lost big at home to Fresno 119-71 and followed that up with a road win over Cerro Coso 87-72. It has been a solid season for Merced as the Blue Devils are 0-3 against teams that are ranked and will need to pick up some quality wins in conference to make a playoff push. This week, Merced will face Sequoias tonight in Visalia and follow that up with a home game against 13th ranked West Hills on Saturday night.

15. Cabrillo (9-6): The Seahawks jump back into the rankings following a week away from our polls. Cabrillo picked up a 81-54 win over San Jose in their Coast South Conference opener last week. Cabrillo has struggled of late and the Seahawks have gone 0-5 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings and will look to get back on track this week as Cabrillo will face Monterey tonight on the road and follow that up with a home game against Gavilan on Friday night in Coast South Conference action.
