Last season, the Coyotes won one game and finished in last place in the Central Valley Conference. Cerro Coso will return two players from a year ago as Kanioa Matthews will look to have a solid sophomore season. Meanwhile, Hartnell will look to pick up their first win of the season after the Panthers won nine games a year ago. The Panthers return one player from a year ago as Jesse Hurtado will look to have a good sophomore season. This will be the opener for both teams as the two Northern California teams will face off at 5pm tomorrow.
In the second game of the night, 13th ranked Gavilan (3-0) will take on College of the Siskiyous (0-2). The Rams started off the season winning their first three games of the year and bringing home the San Jose City College Tip Off Tournament championship. Gavilan picked up wins over Lassen (67-55), San Jose (82-66) and won the championship with a 73-55 win over Foothill. The Rams had four players average in double figures led by Brian King who averaged 18.0 points per contest in three games. Xander Bowers averaged 12.3 poitns and 9.3 rebounds, Ibn Zaid (13.7 points), and Ja-Mont Wilson (10.3 points and 10.0 rebounds) were three other Rams in double figures last weekend at the San Jose City College Tournament. The Rams will look to pick up another win with a victory over College of the Siskiyous on day one action. The Eagles will look to pick up their first victory of the season after going 0-2 last weekend at the Las Positas Tournament. Siskiyous lost to Las Positas and Contra Costa and the Eagles gave up 109 in each game, so the Eagles will look to play better defense this upcoming weekend. Tyvon Gaitors (17.5 points) and Deontrey Fuller (10.0 points) averaged in double figures last weekend and will look to continue to play well for Siskiyous.
