Teams: Barstow (0-3), Porterville (0-2), Imperial Valley (1-3), Victor Valley (0-0)

Match Ups: The two day four team event will begin on Thursday evening at 5pm as two games will take place on the opening day of the event. In the first game Porterville (0-2) will take on Barstow (0-3) in a battle of teams that lost both games last week. The Pirates suffered two defeats last week at the San Jose Tip Off Tournament last weekend as Porterville lost to Monterey 101-94 and in the consolation semi final, the Pirates lost to conference foe Merced 79-73. Freshman Damoni Jones led the Pirates in scoring last week at the San Jose Tournament as the wing averaged 16 points per game. Tevin Howell (14.0 points) and Carlos Angel (10.0 points) were the other two Pirates in double figures. Porterville will need to get more from sophomore Malik McCowan if they are going to pick up wins this season as the sophomore point guard averaged 9.5 points and shot 35% from the floor in the first weekend of the season. As for the Vikings, Barstow went 0-2 last weekend at the San Diego City College Invitational. Barstow lost to Mt. San Jacinto, and Los Angeles Harbor last weekend. The Vikings lost their home opener on Tuesday to 5th ranked Riverside 87-63. Will Pierce and Paul Veila played solid for the Vikings at the tournament over the weekend as both players averaged in double figures. Big man Borja Soriano March is another player that stood out for the Vikings.

In the second game, Imperial Valley will take on tournament host Victor Valley. The Arabs are coming off a road loss against Arizona Western last night. In the Miramar Tournament, Imperial Valley lost in the consolation final to Southwestern after picking up a win over Santa Monica. Perry Cromwell leads Imperial Valley in scoring as the sophomore averaged 12.0 points per contest at the Miramar Tournament last week. Victor Valley will be playing in thier first game of the season and the Rams should be an improved team for the upcoming season. Victor Valley won four games a year ago but welcome back sophomore Tristan Angelo (13.0 points per game) and welcome in some solid pieces and will look to pick up their first win of the season against Imperial Valley.

On Friday in day two of the tournament, Barstow will face Imperial Valley and Porterville will take on tournament host Victor Valley.
