Weekend before Xmas action

Saddleback Tournament

In the final day of the Saddleback Tournament, T.J Shorts had 25 points and 7 assist and Breaon Brady added 11 points and 5 rebounds as 2nd ranked Saddleback (13-2) won their eighth straight game with a 60-52 victory over Irvine Valley (8-6) to win the tournament championship. Zuri Williams and Mike Turner each had 13 points for the Lasers in the loss. In the third place game, Austin Bryant andBrett Hollins each had 15 points as Mira Costa (9-7) beat 8th ranked Mt. San Jacinto 83-74 to take home the third place trophy. Tre Nottingham had 18 points and 4 assist and Jaryn Taylor added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for Mt. San Jacinto (12-7). In the consolation final of the Saddleback Tournament, Romario Wilson scored 15 points and Darien McClain added 14 points and 6 assist as top ranked San Diego (14-4) got past unranked Canyons 80-71 to take home the consolation title. Chris Collins had 22 points and Michael Kalu added 14 points in the loss for Canyons (5-10).

Santa Rosa Tournament

Ant Navarette had 24 points and William Green added 18 points as 10th ranked Canada (11-4) won their fourth straight game and took home the tournament championship with a 95-92 win over 6th ranked Feather River (12-3). In other action K.C. Cyprian had 21 points and Calvin Martin added 13 points as 5th ranked Citrus (12-3) picked up an 89-81 win over Tournament host and 8th ranked Santa Rosa (9-5). In the consolation final, Albert Waters and Elijah Green each had 26 points as Los Medanos (3-6) cruised past Napa 99-78 to bring home the consolation championship. Malik Tyndale had 26 points and Trent Rojas added 10 points in the loss for Napa (2-8).

Modesto Tournament 

In the championship game at the Modesto Tournament, Tyus Millhollin had 28 points and Christian Carroll added 15 points as 4th ranked Fresno (11-4) picked up a 70-61 win over Cosumnes River (7-5) to bring home the Modesto championship. In the third place game, 13th ranked Marin (5-3) slipped past Sacramento 91-90 to take home third place. David King and Bret Lynch each had 22 points in the loss for Sacramento (6-6). In the consolation final, Kenny Macklin had 15 points and Damien Trujillo added 11 points as Lassen (10-7) edged 7th ranked Ohlone (10-4) to bring home the consolation title.

Los Angeles Southwest Tournament 

In the final day at the Los Angeles Southwest Tournament, Jordan Young exploded for 29 points and 8 rebounds and D’Lano Beckles added 22 points and 8 rebounds as Los Angeles Southwest (7-7) picked up the Tournament championship with a 88-74 victory over Los Angles Valley (4-8). In the third place game, Justin Ayala had 15 points and Derek Ohara added 13 points as Rio Hondo (8-8) got past Santa Barbara 76-67. Ben Clay had 21 points and 9 rebounds and Chris Givens added 17 points in the loss for Santa Barbara (2-11). In the consolation final, Josh Mendoza had 22 points and Tim Pena added 14 points as Orange Coast (6-7) crushed Allan Hancock 79-56. Deon Whiteside had 19 points and Kevawn Lord added 16 in the loss for Hancock (5-9).

West Valley Tournament 

In the championship game in Saratoga, 9th ranked Diablo Valley (9-3) edged Solano 61-59. In the third place game, Alex Gil-Fernandez had 25 points and Chris Russell added 18 points as 15th ranked Foothill (9-5) picked up a 91-90 victory over Santa Monica (7-6). In the consolation title game Bakersfield (11-7) picked up a 98-87 win over Monterey (4-8). Marcus Wallace had 22 points and 4 rebounds and John Rich added 14 points in the loss for the Lobos.

San Joaquin Delta Tournament

In semi final action in Stockton, Zach Copeland had 26 points and MIchael Steadman added 19 points and 8 rebounds as top ranked San Francisco (13-1) moved to the championship game with a 97-87 overtime win over unranked Sierra (4-6). Eric Toles had 27 points and Rashard Thornhill added 16 points in the loss. In other semi final action, Jovian Cormier had 18 points and David Lerma added 13 points as San Joaquin Delta (6-5) picked up a 74-70 win over 11th ranked Cabrillo (7-5).

In the consolation bracket, Nemanja Kovacevic had 16 points and 5 assist and Dorae Elliott added 11 points and 15 rebounds as 5th ranked Butte (10-3) cruised past Reedley 78-56 to move into the consolation final today against Merced. Kurtis McCoy had 12 points for Reedley (4-7) in the loss. In the second game in the consolation bracket, 12th ranked Merced (8-4) slipped past Alameda 90-88.

Sequoias Tournament 

In the semi finals in Visalia, Cordel Hankerson had 24 points and Calvin Young added 21 points as Ventura (9-6) edged 6th ranked San Bernardino 87-85 to advance to the finals tomorrow night against Cerritos. Ja Morgan and Gloire Biongo each had 17 points in the loss for San Bernardino (12-3). In the second semi final Tyler Payne had 28 points and 5 rebounds and Anthony Lefeau added 18 points as 7th ranked Cerritos (11-2) needed overtime to slip past unranked Sequoias 95-90 to advance to the title game tomorrow. Isaiah Johnson had 25 points and Austin Armstead added 21 points and 5 assist in the loss for Sequoias (6-6).

In the consolation bracket, Ahmad Opi-Onilnela had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Jamal Heckard added 15 points as 15th ranked El Camino (8-2) overcame a 14 point deficit and edged out Shasta 81-77 to move into the consolation final tomorrow. Malachi Jones had 17 points and Devan Howe added 16 points in the loss for Shasta (3-10). In other consolation action, McKay Anderson had 35 points and 9 rebounds and Dejon Williams added 15 points and 11 rebounds as Pasadena (4-7) cruised past Oxnard 97-80. Jakari McClain had 20 points and Dayshone Henry added 19 points and 16 rebounds in the loss for Oxnard (2-9).

Compton Tournament 

In first round action at the Compton Tournament, Anthony Fitzpatrick had 22 points and 8 rebounds and Jayvon Brown added 21 points and 9 assist as 5th ranked Compton (10-3) needed overtime to get by Glendale 94-84. Jordan Matthews had 26 points and 8 rebounds and Jack Karaetyan added 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for Glendale (6-5). In other action, Craig Owens had 21 points and Sonti Gray added 18 points as West Los Angeles (8-5) picked up a 85-75 win over Porterville (3-9). Malik McCowan and Da’Morea Green each had 15 points in the loss for the Pirates. 11th ranked Chaffey (10-4) got 23 points from Mark Borgeson and point guard Brian Beard added 18 points, 8 assist and 7 rebounds as the Panthers picked up 87-69 win over unranked Santa Ana (3-8) to move into the semi finals. Jason Walker and Andrew Harper each had 17 points in the loss. In the final game of the night, Brandon White had 23 points and 6 rebounds and Lucious Coleman added 10 points as Los Angeles Pierce (3-4) picked up a 74-71 win over Southwestern (3-12) in overtime. Richard Grove had 15 points and 6 rebounds and Iman Chatman-Dixon added 19 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

Tristan Angelo had 23 points and Garrett White added 18 points and 5 rebounds as Victor Valley (3-9) picked up an 85-82 overtime victory over Los Angeles Harbor (3-9).
