San Diego Miramar Tournament
In first round action, Cody Wilkes made four three pointers and had 14 points and Jason Carter added 13 points and 4 rebounds as 5th ranked Cerritos (1-0) knocked off 13th ranked Southwestern 73-66 victory early this afternoon. Southwestern (0-1) was led by Emilio Arellano as the sophomore had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Quentrear Meadows added 14 points in the loss for the Jaguars. 5th ranked Cerritos will face off against Mira Costa in the semi finals tomorrow.
In other action in the first round, Xavier Allison had 13 points and 10 assists and Anthony Jensen added 12 points as Mira Costa (1-0) picked up a 69-61 victory over Rio Hondo to advance to the semi finals. Kenyatta Louder had 27 points and Jesus Hernandez added 11 points and 4 rebounds in the loss for Rio Hondo (0-1). Mira Costa will next face 5th ranked Cerritos in the semi finals tomorrow at 4pm. Rio Hondo will face off against 13th ranked Southwestern in the consolation bracket.
In the third match up of the day, Blake Seits had 16 points and Chris Jones added 14 points and 5 assists as tournament host San Diego Miramar (1-0) picked up a 90-78 win over Imperial Valley in their season opener. Perry Cromwell had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Marquis Ellison added 11 points in the loss for Imperial Valley (0-1). Miramar will next face off against Irvine Valley while Imperial Valley will take on Santa Monica in the consolation bracket.
In the finale of the night, Cameron Griffin had 22 points and Jake Linsky added 20 points and 15 rebounds as Irvine Valley (1-0) slipped past Santa Monica 73-69 in overtime to move into the semi finals tomorrow. Jhamad Norwood had 15 points and 6 rebounds and Michael Fry added 9 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for Santa Monica (0-1). Irvine Valley will next face Miramar College tomorrow in the semi finals and Santa Monica will face off against Imperial Valley in the consolation bracket.
Clash at Canyons
In tournament action in Valencia, 3rd ranked East Los Angeles (1-0) picked up a 88-73 win over Glendale (0-1). In other action, Canyons (1-0) picked up a 106-75 win over Oxnard (0-1) to move into the finals and face East Los Angeles tomorrow. Al Stubbs had 20 points in the loss for Oxnard and Jakari McClain added 11 points in the loss. Oxnard will face Glendale tomorrow in the consolation championship.
In first round action at the Ventura Tournament, D’Mauria made two free throws to put Antelope Valley ahead late and 7th ranked Antelope Valley (1-0) survived a first round scare sneaking past Pasadena 64-63. Jones had 21 points and 7 rebounds and Osi Nwachukwu added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the Marauders in the win. Joe Hamilton had 17 points and 8 rebounds and Kyle Mitchell added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Pasadena (0-1).
Jackson Strong made ten three pointers and had 34 points and 10 rebounds and Matt Meyers added 14 points as Palomar (1-0) cruised to a 95-78 victory over Los Angeles Valley (0-1). The Comets made 19 three pointers in thier first outing of the season. Dejwan Walker had 32 points and Christian Morataya added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Monarchs.
In the third game of the night, Brae Ivey scored 31 points and took over the second half and Andre Wilson added 16 points as 6th ranked Riverside (1-0) survived a hard fought battle and picked up a 73-65 win over Moorpark. Cole Micek had 17 points and Justice De Corsi added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for Moorpark (0-1). 6th ranked Riverside will face 7th ranked Antelope Valley tomorrow in the semi finals. Moorpark will face Pasadena in the consolation bracket tomorrow.
In the night cap, Lloyd Wright had 31 points and 6 rebounds and Joshua Davis added 16 points and 6 rebounds as Orange Coast (1-0) upended tournament host Ventura 92-76 to advance to the semi finals. Isiah Reyes had 26 points and was 20-24 from the free throw line in the loss. Reyes also had 9 rebounds and 5 assist in the first round loss. John Williams had 20 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Ventura (0-1). Orange Coast will face off against Palomar in the semi finals tomorrow and Ventura will face Los Angeles Valley in the consolation bracket.
Las Positas Tournament
Ben Wood made six three pointers and had 18 points and Demarre Walker added 15 points as 8th ranked Diablo Valley picked up a 95-56 victory over the Simpson JV. The Vikings will next face off against 15th ranked Columbia tomorrow in the semi finals.
In other first round action on the day, Marquell Hubbard scored 18 points and Maurice Woods and Chris Childs each added 12 points as 15th ranked Columbia (1-0) picked up a 75-71 win over 3rd ranked Butte (0-1). Terry Clarendon led the Roadrunners with 22 points and Darae Elliott added13 points in the loss for Butte. 3rd ranked Butte will face the Simpson JV tomorrow in the consolation bracket.
Tournament host and 5th ranked Las Positas cruised to a 109-74 win over College of the Siskiyous. Nick Evans had 17 points and Anand Hundal added 15 points in the win for the Hawks. Tyvon Gaitors had 23 points and Deontrey Fuller added 12 points in the loss for Siskiyous (0-1). The Hawks will face off against Sacramento tomorrow in semi final action. Meanwhile, Siskiyous will face off against Contra Costa in consolation play.
In other first round action, Sacramento (1-0) picked up a 76-60 first round victory over Contra Costa to advance to the semi finals. Gabe Serna had 21 points and Troy Owens added 17 points for the Panthers in the victory. Kemare Wright had 20 points and 4 rebounds and Evan Thompson added 12 points in the loss for Contra Costa (0-1). The Panthers will face tournament host Las Positas in the semi finals tomorrow.
College of the Desert Tournament
Kendall Lauderdale had 20 points and 9 rebounds and Kevin McNeal added 14 points as 2nd ranked San Bernardino (1-0) picked up a 73-59 win over unranked Compton in first round action. L’kielynn Taylor had 10 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for Compton (0-1). San Bernardino will face 4th ranked Saddleback tomorrow while Compton will face off against Glendale (AZ).
In other action, J.J. Overton had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists and Anthony Naimie added 14 points and 7 rebounds as 4th ranked Saddleback picked up a 75-70 win over Glendale (AZ) in first round action. Dominique Bankowski had 16 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for Glendale (AZ). The Gauchos will face off against 2nd ranked San Bernardino in tomorrows semi finals.
In a match up between two ranked teams in our preseason rankings, Murshid Randle had 17 points and 6 rebounds, and Ronald Bell added 14 points and 13 rebounds as 9th ranked Copper Mountain (1-0) edged 13th ranked Grossmont 84-78 in overtime to advance to the semi finals. Josh Moran had 18 points and David Wheeler added 17 points for Grossmont (0-1) in the loss. Copper Mountain will face off against West Los Angeles tomorrow in the semi finals while Grossmont will take on Desert.

Philippe Salawa had 12 points and 5 rebounds and Shaquille Russell added 11 points in the loss for Desert. West Los Angeles will next face 9th ranked Copper Mountain in the semi finals tomorrow. Desert will take on 13th ranked Grossmont in the consolation bracket.
San Jose City College Tournament
Matt McAndrews had 28 points and Alex Gil-Fernandez added 15 points as 13th ranked Foothill (1-0) knocked off Merced 80-74 in first round action. The Owls will next face Monterey in the semi finals tomorrow.
Gavilan and Coach Dallas Jensen picked up thier first win of the season as the Rams picked up a 67-55 victory over Lassen (0-1) to open up thier season. The Rams will next face tournament host San Jose in the semi finals tomorrow. Lassen will take on Cosumnes River in the consolation bracket.
In other action in San Jose, Elijah Nesbit had 16 points, 8 assist and 5 rebounds and Deshawnte Collins added 16 points and 9 rebounds as 14th ranked Monterey (1-0) picked up a 101-94 victory over Porterville (0-1) in first round action. Damoni Jones had 21 points and Tevin Howell and Malik McCowan each had 16 points in the loss for the Pirates. 14th ranked Monterey will next face 13th ranked Foothill in the semi finals while Porterville will take on Merced on the consolation side.
