Southern California Week 9 Rankings


1. San Diego (16-2) The Knights remain at the top of the Southern California rankings after having the week off. The Knights are 7-2 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. San Diego has been off since December 16th but the Knights will be in action on Tuesday against Los Angeles Pierce in first round action at the Mira Costa Tournament.

2. East Los Angeles (12-3) The Huskies remain at number two this week in the Southern California rankings after winning the Cuyamaca Tournament. East Los Angeles picked up wins against Cypress, Antelope Valley and Cerro Coso in the championship game. The 12 win squad is 2-2 against teams that are in this weeks rankings and the Huskies will be in action this Friday at the Cuesta Tournament against Allan Hancock.

3. Citrus (14-3) The Owls remain at number three after having the week off. Citrus returns to action on Wednesday at the Chaffey Tournament. Citrus is 2-3 against teams that are ranked within our current rankings and the Owls will face off against 14th ranked West Los Angeles in first round action.

4. Fullerton (11-4) The Hornets move up two spots in the rankings after having the week off. Fullerton is on a four game winning streak and the Hornets are 4-4 against teams that are ranked within this weeks rankings. Fullerton will be in action this week on Wednesday as the Hornets will open up Orange Empire Conference play on the road against Santa Ana and follow that up with a road game on Friday against Riverside.

5. San Bernardino (13-4) The Wolverines stay put in the rankings after going 1-2 at the Fiesta Bowl Classic in Mesa, Arizona last week. San Bernardino suffered losses against Southern Idaho and Salt Lake CC but knocked off Snow CC. The Wolverines are 7-1 against teams that are ranked within our rankings and will return to playing against California junior colleges this week as San Bernardino will take on Santa Barbara on Friday at the Cuesta Tournament in first round action.

6. Cerritos (12-3) The Falcons move up one spot in the rankings despite having the week off. Cerritos is 2-3 against teams that are ranked and this week, the Falcons will return to action and face 11th ranked Grossmont in first round action at the Mira Costa Tournament.

7. Copper Mountain (13-4) The Fighting Cacti move up one spot in the rankings after picking up a win over Compton last week. Copper Mountain is 6-2 against teams that are ranked within our current Signal The Light Basketball rankings. The Fighting Cacti have had a lot of success this season and this week Copper Mountain will make their conference debut and open up on the road and face Cypress on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a Friday game on the road against 9th ranked Santiago Canyon.

8. San Diego Miramar (11-3) The Jets drop four spots in the rankings after going 2-1 last week at the Cuyamaca Tournament. Miramar picked up the consolation title after losing to Victor Valley and picking up wins against Cuyamaca and Cypress. The Jets are 3-2 against teams that are ranked within our rankings and will be in action tomorrow against Barstow in first round action at the Mira Costa Tournament.

9. Santiago Canyon (13-3) The Falcons move up two spots in the rankings after teams above them faltered last week. Santiago Canyon is 0-1 against teams that are ranked inside of our Signal The Light Basketball rankings and the Falcons return to action for the first time since December 16th this week. Santiago Canyon will open up Orange Empire Conference play this week as the Falcons will travel to Riverside on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against 7th ranked Copper Mountain on Friday evening.

10. Los Angeles Harbor (10-5) The Seahakws move up three spots in the rankings after picking up a home win against Grossmont last week. Los Angeles Harbor has won four straight games and won six of seven overall. The Seahakws are 2-3 against teams that are ranked within our rankings and Los Angeles Harbor will face off against Mt. San Jacinto at home on Friday in their lone game of the week.

11. Grossmont (9-5) The Griffins drop two spots in the rankings following a loss last week to Los Angeles Harbor in their lone game of the week. Grossmont has lost two straight games and three of their last four games. The Griffins are 0-5 against teams that are ranked within our rankings this week and will look to pick up a win against 6th ranked Cerritos in first round action at the Mira Costa Tournament.

12. Irvine Valley (11-6) The Lasers move up two spots in the rankings after knocking off Los Angeles Valley at home last week. Irvine Valley has won three straight games after losing two straight and the Lasers are 0-5 against teams that are ranked inside of our rankings. This week the Lasers will face Orange Coast in their Orange Empire Conference opener on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Saddleback on Friday.

13. Chaffey (9-6) The Panthers move up two spots in the rankings despite having the week off. Chaffey is on a three game winning streak and won seven of thier last eight games. Chaffey is 2-3 against teams that are ranked inside of our weekly rankings and will face off against Desert on Thursday in first round action at their own tournament.

14. West Los Angeles (11-5) The Wildcats drop four spots in our rankings after suffering a home loss to unranked Moorpark last week. West Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last eight games and the Wildcats are 0-3 against teams that are currently ranked inside of our rankings. This week, the Wildcats will face off against Citrus in first round action at the Chaffey Tournament.

15. Ventura (12-6) The Pirates come back into the rankings after going on the road and picking up a big win over Riverside. Ventura is 4-3 against teams that are ranked inside of our rankings and will look to pick up another non conference win against Canyons at home on Thursday in their only game of the week.
