Teams: Folsom Lake (1-5), West Valley (5-4), Siskiyous (0-9), Skyline (5-6), Redwoods (1-7), (9) Las Positas (8-3), (4) Gavilan (10-0), Porterville (2-4). 

Matchups: The Skyline Tournament gets underway later today as eight Northern California teams will participate in the three day event. Two ranked teams will be at the event in San Bruno as Feather River and undefeated Gavilan will take part at the tournament in San Bruno.

In first round action beginning today, Folsom Lake (1-5) and West Valley (5-4) will battle in first round action. The Falcons come into the game on a three game losing streak and will look to snap it in first round action against West Valley. Folsom Lake will look to Zethan Dumpson who is leading the team in scoring as the freshman is averaging 21.3 points and 9.5 rebounds this season. Noah Hernandez is also averaging 20.8 points and shooting 39% from downtown this season for the Falcons. Isiah Maun is another player averaging in double figures as the freshman is averaging 14.7 points and 10.7 rebounds this season for the Falcons. Meanwhile, West Valley comes into the game on a two game losing streak as the Vikings have had a streaky start to their season. Devante Johnson is one of three Vikings in double figures as the freshman is averaging 16.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season. Delvon Nisby is averaging 16.7 points and 6.1 rebounds this season for the Vikings. Cristian Mejia is the other player averaging in double figures as the freshman is averaging 15.9 points and 3.6 rebounds this season. It should be a solid first round match up today between the two Northern California teams.

In the second game of the tournament, Siskiyous (0-9) will look to pick up their first win against Skyline (5-6) in first round action. The Eagles will look to pick up their first win of the season after starting the season losing their first nine of the season. Siskiyous have four players averaging in double figures this season led by Dwayne McClendon as the freshman is averaging 13.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this season. Dwight Sargent (11.8 points), Tyvon Gaitors (11.3 points) are two other players averaging in double figures this season for Siskiyous. Skyline comes into the game looking to pick up a victory over Siskiyous in first round action. KeDraun Buckner leads the Trojans in scoring as the sophomore is averaging 15.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game this season. Clayton Ladine (13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists) and Chris Fontaine (11.9 points and 13.8 rebounds) will both look to contribute in first round action.

In the third game of the tournament, Redwoods (1-7) will take on 9th ranked Las Positas (8-3). Redwoods comes into the contest winning one game this season and the Corsairs have not beat another junior college this season with their lone win coming against the Simpson JV. One player is scoring in double figures this season as Dunnell Stafford is averaging 22.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game for Redwoods. Tyrice Paul (8.8 points) and Rayjhan Feltus (7.3 points) will need to play well to have a chance at an upset bid against the 9th ranked Hawks. As for Las Positas, the Hawks come into the game on a four game winning streak. Anand Hundal is leading Las Positas in scoring as the big man is averaging 14.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season. The sophomore has seven double doubles this season and the big man has stepped out the three point range and made eight three pointers this season. Nick Evans is another Hawk player averaging in double figures as the sophomore guard is averaging 14.7 points this season. Evans has scored in double figures in nine of his eleven games and had a season high of 25 points against Merced on November 30th. J.T. Branch (8.5 pointsand 5.1 rebounds), John Ketchel (8.3 points), Alvon Marshall (8.1 points) and Peter Hewitt (7.8 points) have played well for the Hawks this season through 11 games.

In the final game of the first round, 4th ranked Gavilan (10-0) will look to stay undefeated against Porterville (2-4) in the late game tonight. The Pirates will look to upset the Rams as Porterville comes into the game losing two of their last three games. Damoni Jones leads Porterville in scoring as the freshman is averaging 14.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. Jones is shooting 39% from downtown and is having a solid freshman campaign for the Pirates. Malik McCowan is averaging 14.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in his sophomore campaign. Carlos Angel (11.0 points) and Brandon Thomas (9.3 points) will look to contribute against Gavilan in first round action. Gavilan comes into the tournament undefeated as the Rams have started the season winning their first ten games this season. The 4th ranked Rams are led in scoring by Brian King Jr. as the sophomore is averaging 18.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists this season. King has been a major part of the Rams success this season. Ibn Zaid (14.7 points and 3.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists), Ja-Mont Wilson (11.7 points and 9.7 rebounds), and Xander Bowers (11.2 points and 10.7 rebounds) are all averaging in double figures for Gavilan who will look to pick up their eleventh straight win and advance to the semi finals.
