Three tournaments finished off semi final action after a busy Monday in California junior college basketball. In northern California, Sierra advanced to the championship game at the Chabot tournament after beating the host school. In other semi final action, Rio Hondo advanced to the championship game of the Allan Hancock Tournament and will face Fresno City. In southern California, Santa Ana will meet Cypress in the championship game of the San Diego Mesa Tournament.
Chabot Tournament – Hayward, CA
In the semi finals of the Chabot Tournament, Sierra (7-6) advanced to the championship game with a 64-54 win over 14th ranked Chabot (9-7). Isiah Pineiro had 21 points and 20 rebounds and Cole Preston added 15 points in the win for Sierra. In the other semi final, 6th ranked Antelope Valley beat 9th ranked Cosumnes River 75-68. Donald Mims had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks for the Hawks in the loss.
In the consolation bracket, Solano (2-6) knocked off Palomar 77-70. Jaimon Robinson had 21 points and Kyle Osterstock added 19 points in the win for Solano. Jeremy Franklin had 24 points in the loss for Palomar (6-8). In the second game on the consolation side, Porterville (2-10) beat Fullerton 68-66 in overtime. Davy Baltus scored 20 points and Malik Muhammad added 13 points for the Pirates.
In the championship game, Sierra will battle Antelope Valley. In the 3rd place game, Chabot will battle Cosumnes River and in the consolation final, Porterville will face Solano to finish off action at the Chabot Tournament.
Allan Hancock Tournament – Santa Maria,CA
In the semi finals at the Allan Hancock Tournament, 15th ranked Rio Hondo knocked off Bakersfield 68-61 in overtime to advance to the championship game. Kyle Maloof had 19 points and 6 rebounds, and Wes Burke added 16 points for Rio Hondo (12-5). Jameik Riviere had 17 points for Bakersfield (9-4) in the loss. In the other semi final, 2nd ranked Fresno (15-3) overcame a three point halftime deficit to beat Cerritos 62-53. Dejon Burdeaux had 14 points and 8 rebounds and Kyle Ingram added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the win for the Rams. Micah Winn had 15 points in the loss for Cerritos (6-8).
In the consolation bracket, 4th ranked San Jose (11-3) knocked off tournament host Allan Hancock 75-61. Junior Anderson had 18 points and Chris Sterling added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the win for the Jaguars. Lavell White led Hancock (5-9) with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. 7th ranked Cuesta (10-5) held off Santa Barbara 59-56 to advance to the consolation championship. Tayler Thompson had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Keshawn Liggins added 10 points for Cuesta in the win. Thomas Walker had 14 points in the loss for Santa Barbara (4-7).
Fresno will face Rio Hondo in the championship game. This will be the second time the two teams have faced eachother as Fresno won the earlier meeting 71-65 at the El Camino Tournament. Cerritos will battle Bakersfield in the 3rd place game, and the consolation championship will see San Jose and Cuesta mix it up.
San Diego Mesa Tournament – San Diego, CA
In the semi finals of the San Diego Mesa Tournament, Santa Ana knocked off West Hills 58-51. In the other semi final, Austin Payne had 21 points and Nolan Kelly added 14 points as Cypress (7-7) knocked off Victor Valley 93-79. Deshawn Hayes had 18 points and 7 rebounds and Max Barkeley added 17 points in the loss for Victor Valley (12-8).
In the consolation bracket, San Diego Mesa (3-8) upset 9th ranked East Los Angeles 61-58. Novian Cherry and David Jones each had 15 points in the win for Mesa. In the other game of the consolation bracket, Grossmont (6-7) knocked off Glendale 64-59. Juwan Thomas led Glendale (1-10) with 21 points in the loss.
In the championship game, Santa Ana will face Cypress. In the 3rd place game, Victor Valley will meet up against West Hills. In the consolation final, tournament host San Diego Mesa will go up against Grossmont.
Siskiyous Tournament – Weed, CA
At the Siskiyous Tournament, Lane College from Oregon upended Shasta 83-80 in overtime. In other action Butte (8-6) beat Sacramento 69-57. Michael Shoemaker had 24 points for Butte in the win. Arnie Vargas had 15 points in the loss for Sacramento (6-7). In other action College of the Siskiyous (3-13) lost to Umpqua 67-63. Jerome Lane had 16 points in the loss for Siskiyous.
Imperial Valley Tournament – Imperial, CA
College of the Desert (7-7) led by five at the half and pulled away in the second half for a 76-52 victory over Cuyamaca. Jordan Pellum had 18 points and Mark Johnson added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win for Desert. In other action, El Camino-Compton Center (7-5) beat San Diego Miramar 71-65. Pasadena (5-8) won their third straight game with a victory over tournament host Imperial Valley 72-56. Richard Stamps had 18 points and Brandon Martinez added 13 points in the loss for Imperial Valley (0-11)

Aptos, CA – Cabrillo 64 Foothill 56
Zavon Jackson had 23 points and Allen Wilcher added 16 points as Cabrillo (7-7) knocked off Foothill 64-56 on Monday evening.
Mesa, AZ – (3) San Bernardino 65 Mesa, AZ CC 59
MVP of the tournament Todd Lewis had 15 points and Kyle Benton added 14 points and 9 rebounds as 3rd ranked San Bernardino knocked off Mesa Community College 65-59 to win the Mesa Fiesta Bowl Junior College shootout. The only California team in the tournament picked up three wins against some good competition outside of California.
