Santa Rosa knocks off DVC in Conference opener

Pleasant Hill, CA – (8) Santa Rosa 71 (10) Diablo Valley 68

Skylar Chavez had 24 points and Marcus Gilbert added 14 points as 8th ranked Santa Rosa (8-4, 1-0) picked up a close road victory 71-68 over 10th ranked Diablo Valley (7-6, 0-1). Ben Wood had 26 points and John Dong added 13 points in the loss for the Vikings.

Folsom, CA – Sierra 91 Folsom Lake 72

Kenny Olsem had 23 points and Josh Gonzalez added 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists as Sierra (6-6, 1-0) picked up a 91-72 win over Folsom Lake (1-9, 0-1).

Sacramento, CA – Cosumnes River 70 American River 63

Jordan Roberson, Paul Ohiri, and Drew Biggs all had 13 points as Cosumnes River (5-6, 1-0) won their conference opener on the road getting past American River 70-63 on Wednesday night. Thomas Edwards had 22 points and Baidi Kamagate added 14 points in the loss for American River (2-7, 0-1).

Bay Valley Conference

Fairfield, CA – Solano 81 Los Medanos 63

In opening play in Bay Valley Conference action, Maurice Kimball had 18 points and Leon Williams went for 16 points as Solano (6-6, 1-0) picked up their first conference victory with a 81-63 win over Los Medanos (7-5, 0-1).

Ukiah, CA – Contra Costa 80 Mendocino 66

Trevon Silas had 16 points and 9 rebounds, and Matt Murry added 10 points and 17 rebounds as Contra Costa (7-5, 1-0) opened up conference play with a 80-66 road victory over Mendocino (8-4, 0-1). Jamarlin Jackson had 19 points and Deshaunte Woods added 13 points in the loss for the Eagles.

Marysville, CA – (4) Yuba 106 Alameda 93

Elishja Duplechan had 21 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds and Jashon Lewis added 22 points and 8 rebounds as 4th ranked Yuba (9-4, 1-0) picked up a 106-93 victory over Alameda (2-9, 0-1) in Bay Valley Conference action.

Napa, CA – Napa 79 Merritt 71

In opening action in Bay Valley Conference action, Armani Mills had 20 points and Amancho Adopo added 15 points as Napa (5-7, 1-0) picked up a 79-71 win over Merritt (3-7, 0-1). Tommy Faustka had 19 points and Karin Helali added 11 points in the loss for the Thunderbirds.

Compton Tournament

In the championship game, Bosten Van Deer Veer had 16 points and 6 rebounds and Tyler Ginyard added 15 points and 6 rebounds as Chaffey (9-6) picked up a 65-60 win over Citrus (14-3). Jeremy Smith had 32 points and Kyle Gray added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Owls.

In the third place game, Osi Nwachukwu had 18 points and 9 rebounds, and D’Mauria Jones addd 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists as Antelope Valley (9-6) brought home the third place trophy with a 70-62 win over Glendale (5-9). Serigne Athj had 23 points and 5 rebounds and Chris Daniels added 16 points and 5 rebounds for the Vaqueros in the loss.

In the consolation final, Trevor Blackmon had 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists and Prince Obeni added 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 blocks as 8th ranked West Los Angeles (11-4) slipped past Mt. San Antonio 76-70 in overtime to take home the consolation championship. Evan Council had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Minfeke Sanoe added 15 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for Mt. San Antonio (6-10).

Santa Monica, CA – Santa Monica 92 Santa Ana 91

Joe Robinson made five three pointers and had 26 points and 4 rebounds and Jhamad Norwood added 21 points as Santa Monica (3-9) slipped past Santa Ana 92-91 in non conference action. D’Caran Anderson had 25 points and Xaiver Gunter added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for Santa Ana (7-6).
