Teams: Canyons (4-5), Oxnard (1-5), Desert (5-3), Los Angeles Trade Tech (5-2), Bakersfield (4-4), Los Angeles Valley (6-4), Compton (5-3), Santa Barbara (1-6)

The Santa Barbara Tournament gets underway today and eight teams will participate at the three day event.

In the first game of the tournament Canyons (4-5) will take on Oxnard (1-5) in first round action. Canyons comes into first round action on a two game losing streak after suffering two losses at the Mt. San Jacinto Tournament. The Cougars have struggled to find consistency this season as it has been a season of streaks. Canyons is 0-2 against teams in our rankings and will look to end their losing streak against Oxnard. The Condors come into the contest on a two game losing streak. Oxnard has won one game this season as the Condors picked up a 118-99 win over the University of Antelope Valley JV. Oxnard has given up 100 points in three of their last four games and the Condros will look to slow down Canyons in first round action on Thursday.

In the second game of the day, Desert (5-3) will take on Los Angeles Trade Tech (5-2) in first round action. The Roadrunners come into first round action on a two game winning streak as Desert has started the season winning five of their first eight games this season. Desert is 0-2 against teams that are ranked within our rankings this season and Desert has already won more games than they did all of last season. Los Angeles Trade Tech comes into the match up winners of five straight games after losing their first two games of the season. After suffering losses against Los Angeles Southwest and Los Angeles Valley to start the season, the Beavers have one win over a ranked opponent inside of our rankings (West Los Angeles). The Beavers will be looking to pick up their sixth straight win in first round action.

In other first round action, Bakersfield (4-4) will take on Los Angeles Valley (6-4) at 6pm. The Renegades come into the game winners of three straight games after starting the season off slow. Bakersfield has put together a solid run picking up wins against West Hills-Coalinga, Porterville and West Hills-Lemoore and moved their record to .500. Los Angeles Valley comes into the game on a two game winning streak as well as the Monarchs picked up the consolation championship at the West Los Angeles Tournament. The Monarchs will look to pick up the first round victory against Bakersfield as both teams are on a two game winning streak.

In the final game of the first round, Santa Barbara (1-6) will look to end their four game losing streak as the Vaqueros will look to pick up a win against their alumni team. Santa Barbara has won one game this season as the Vaqueros beat Napa Valley earlier this season.

Compton will come into action on day two as the Tartars will take over the Santa Barbara alumni and play in the losers bracket on day two and will face the loser of the Bakersfield and Los Angeles Valley game on Friday.
