San Francisco, Fresno, and Gavilan are top 3 Norcal teams in Week 10 STLB rankings

Northern California Week 10 Signal The Light Basketball Rankings


1. San Francisco (17-1): The Rams stay at the top of the rankings after posting two wins last week in Coast North Conference action. San Francisco picked up a 96-61 win over Skyline and followed that up with a 82-69 win over Canada in last weeks action. San Francisco has won three straight games since losing to Cabrillo and have a 9-1 record against teams that are ranked inside of our week 10 rankings. This week, the Rams will be in action one time as San Francisco will host Foothill on Friday in their lone game of the week.

2. Fresno (13-3): The Rams remain at number two in the rankings following two wins in Central Valley Conference play. Fresno picked up a 102-57 win over West Hills-Coalinga and cruised past Cerro Coso 80-62 at home to move to 4-0 in conference action. Fresno is 6-3 against teams within our rankings and the Rams have won 11 straight games going into this upcoming week. The Rams will have two games this week as Fresno will host 8th ranked Columbia on Wednesday in a game that could dictate the Central Valley Conference early championship race. Fresno will then face Porterville at home on Saturday in their other game this week.

3. Gavilan (15-2): The Rams stay put at number three in the rankings following a win last week in Coast South Conference action. Gavilan cruised past Hartnell 84-55 in conference play in their lone game last week. The Rams have put together a 3-2 record against teams that are ranked inside of our week 10 rankings. This week, Gavilan will face 5th ranked Cabrillo on Wednesday in a key Coast South Conference game and follow that up with a home game against De Anza on Friday.

4. Las Positas (13-3): The Hawks move up one spot in the rankings after picking up two wins last week. Las Positas picked up a 73-65 road win against Foothill and followed that up with a 89-72 home win against Ohlone as the Hawks are 2-0 in Coast North Conference action. The Hawks have a 2-1 record against teams that are ranked inside of our rankings and this week Las Positas will face Chabot on the road in conference action and follow that up with a non conference home game against San Jose on Friday night.

5. Cabrillo (13-4): The Seahawks move up one spot in the rankings following a two win week. Cabrillo cruised past San Jose 72-47 and followed that up with a 69-46 win over Hartnell. The Seahawks have held three of their last opponents under 50 points and Cabrillo has a 2-4 record against teams inside of our week 10 rankings. This week, the Seahawks will have two games as Cabrillo will host 3rd ranked Gavilan on Wednesday and follow that up with another Coast South Conference game at home against Monterey.

6. Santa Rosa (13-4): The Bearcubs drop two spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week in Big 8 Conference action. Santa Rosa suffered a 75-72 road loss against Cosumnes River but picked up a 95-78 win over Sierra to stay within a 1/2 game in the Big 8 Conference standings. This season Santa Rosa has a 3-2 record against teams ranked within our rankings as the Bearcubs have played solid basketball. This upcoming week, Santa Rosa will be in action twice as the Bearcubs will host 12th ranked American River on Tuesday and follow that up with a road game against Diablo Valley on Friday.

7. Yuba (14-4): The 49ers remain at the seventh spot in Northern California following a 2-0 week. Yuba picked up wins on the road against Alameda and beat Mendocino at home to stay in a first place tie in Bay Valley Conference action. Yuba has a 2-1 record against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week the 49ers will be in action twice as Yuba will be on the road against Napa Valley on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against co leader and 13th ranked Contra Costa on Friday.

8. Columbia (12-3): The Claimjumpers remain at number eight in the rankings following a win last week. Columbia picked up a 76-63 win over West Hills-Coalinga in their lone game last week and stayed unbeaten in Central Valley Conference play. This season Columbia has played solid basketball as the Claimjumpers have won three straight games and have a 0-3 record against teams that are ranked inside of our week 10 rankings. Columbia will be in action three times this week as the Claimjumpers will host Merced tonight, play at 2nd ranked Fresno on Wednesday and host Reedley on Saturday in Central Valley Conference action.

9. San Joaquin Delta (13-5): The Mustangs move up two spots in the rankings after picking up two Big 8 Conference wins last week. Delta picked up a 76-75 win over Folsom Lake and followed that up with a 85-83 win over American River as the Mustangs won two games by a total of 3 points last week. Delta has a 3-5 record against teams ranked inside of our rankings this season and this week, the Mustangs will be in action one time as they will face Diablo Valley at home on Tuesday.

10. Canada (13-5): The Colts had a rough week and move down one spot as Canada suffered two losses last week. Canada opened up Coast North Conference action with two straight losses as Canada lost 75-64 against Chabot and then lost against San Francisco at home. This season Canada has a 3-3 record against teams ranked inside of our rankings as the Colts have been a solid team this season in Northern California. This week the Colts will be in action twice as Canada will face off against Foothill on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Ohlone on Friday.

11. Sequoias (9-7): The Giants make a big jump in the rankings moving up four spots after teams suffered losses above them last week. Sequoias picked up a 87-37 win over Reedley and followed that up with a 94-66 win over Porterville. Sequoias evened out their record in Central Valley Conference action with two wins and the Giants have a 2-6 record against ranked teams this season. This week, Sequoias will face West Hills-Lemoore tonight and follow that up with another road game on Saturday as the Giants will face West Hills-Coalinga.

12. American River (11-4): The Beavers stay put in the rankings following a 1-1 week in Big 8 action. American River needed double overtime to pick up a 105-100 win over Modesto and followed that up with a road loss against San Joaquin Delta. American River is 1-2 against teams within our week 10 rankings and the Beavers are 1-2 in their last three games. This week, the Beavers will take on 6th ranked Santa Rosa on the road on Tuesday and follow that up with a home game against 15th ranked Cosumnes River on Friday.

13. Contra Costa (9-9): The Comets come into the rankings for the first time this season after picking up two victories last week. Contra Costa picked up a 91-87 win over Mendocino and followed that up with a 90-56 win over Napa Valley to move to 5-1 in Bay Valley Conference action. The Comets have won five straight games and have a 1-4 record against teams that are ranked inside of our week 10 rankings. This week, the Comets are in action one time as Contra Costa will face 7th ranked Yuba on the road in a key Bay Valley Conference match up.

14. Mendocino (11-6): The Eagles drop four spots in the rankings following a 0-2 week in Bay Valley Conference action. Mendocino lost 91-87 against Contra Costa and then lost 80-70 against Yuba in Bay Valley Conference action. Mendocino has a 0-2 record against teams that are ranked inside of our week 10 rankings this season. This week, the Eagles will be in action twice as Mendocino will face Los Medanos at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against Solano on Friday.

15. Cosumnes River (9-9): The Hawks come into our last spot in our week 10 rankings after picking up two wins last week. Cosumnes River picked up an overtime win against Santa Rosa 75-72, and followed that up with a 70-46 win over Modesto. The Hawks are 4-2 in Big 8 Conference action and have a 1-2 record against teams ranked within our week 10 rankings this season. This upcoming week, the Hawks will have two games as Cosumnes River will take on Sierra at home on Tuesday and follow that up with with a Friday road game against 12th ranked American River.
