San Francisco edges Fresno in early non conference showdown in Northern California

San Francisco Tournament

In the championship game of the top two teams in our preseason NorCal rankings, Eddy Ionescu had 21 points and Terrell Brown added 19 points as top ranked San Francisco (3-0) opened up a 20 point halftime lead and held off 2nd ranked Fresno 98-95 to win the championship game of the San Francisco Tournament. Fred Lavender had 18 points and Tyus Millhollin added 15 points in the loss for Fresno (2-1).

In the third place game, Elishja Duplechan had 28 points and Josh Dhatt added 24 points and 9 steals as 7th ranked Yuba got passed 4th ranked Canada (2-1) 83-87 to bring home third place.

In the consolation final of the San Francisco Tournament, Beau Reeve had 24 points and Skylar Chavez added 12 points as 10th ranked Santa Rosa (2-1) beat Mt. San Antonio 74-70 to take home the consolation championship. Marc Howard Jr. had 23 points and Evan Counsil added 18 points in the loss for Mt. San Antonio (1-2).


San Diego Tournament

In the championship game of the San Diego Tournament, Wonder Smith had 23 points and Robert McCoy added 14 points and 7 rebounds as top ranked San Diego (3-0) picked up a 70-63 win in a rematch of the state championship. Jason Richardson had 13 points and Dylan Banks added 14 points in the loss for 8th ranked Fullerton (2-1)

In the third place game, Jeremy Smith had 27 points and Kyle Gray added 27 points and 10 rebounds as 10th ranked Citrus (2-1) overcame a 11 point halftime deficit and knocked off 12th ranked Mt. San Jacinto 86-80 to pick up 3rd place. Davon Sanders had 17 points and 5 rebounds, and David Thompson added 15 points and 5 assists in the loss for Mt. San Jacinto (1-2)

In the consolation final, big man Armstrong Ojunkwu had 38 points and had 18 rebounds and Morrie Neeley added 13 points as San Diego Mesa (2-1) took home the consolation championship with a 77-75 win over Los Angeles Harbor (1-2). Quincy Pinkard had 25 points and 9 rebounds and Joel Anderson added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss for the Seahawks.


Cuesta Tournament

West Hills (2-1) picked up an 78-74 victory over Santa Barbara (0-3) in the last day of the Cuesta Tournament.

In other action, Soloman Taylor had 16 points and Austin Armstead added 16 points as 6th ranked Sequoias (2-1) picked up a 71-66 victory over 15th ranked Allan Hancock (1-2). Glenn Jordan had 13 points and 4 assists and Spirit Ricks and Devin Davis each had 12 points in the loss for the Bulldogs.

In the finale of the tournament, Rodrigo Majarin made seven three pointers and had 25 points and Nic Gabsch added 19 points as Cuesta (2-1) picked up a 80-75 win over West Valley (2-1). Devante Johnson had 24 points and Cristian Mejia added 14 points in the loss for Vikings.


Cabrillo Tournament

In the final day at the Cabrillo Tournament, Tynan Velasquez had 25 points and Linton Acliese added 25 points as 11th ranked Cabrillo (2-0) picked up a 74-65 win over Shasta (1-1)

In the second day of the Cabrillo Tournament, San Joaquin Delta (1-1) picked up a 83-80 win over Redwoods (0-2).
