Otto Taylor had 16 points and CJ Clark added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists as 14th ranked Riverside (8-5) overcame a five point halftime deficit to edge 10th ranked San Bernardino 67-63 at home Wednesday evening. Nathan Pendarvis had 15 points and Roman Silva added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for San Bernardino (7-5).
In the final day of the Compton Tournament, Justin Barton had 15 points and Mark Carter added 11 points and 10 rebounds and four other Wildcats scored in double figures as West Los Angeles (11-6) cruised past West Hills-Lemoore 100-87. Tresean Jordan had 34 points and 9 rebounds and Bryce Hernandez added 15 points in the loss.
In other action, Max Edwards continued his hot play as the forward made five three pointers and had 19 points and 7 rebounds and Kevin Fassu added 12 points as Los Angeles Pierce (9-5) edged Glendale 72-69. Andre Banton had 14 points and Samer Naser added 13 points in the loss for Glendale (4-9).
In the final game of the day, Elie Ghomsi had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Gianni Brown added 12 points and 6 rebounds as Antelope Valley (4-8) overcame a slim halftime deficit and picked up a 73-70 over tournament host Compton (8-5). Aaron Taylor had 22 points and Jordan Griffin added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.
In Rancho Cucamonga, Andy Torices had 15 points and Anthony Garcia added 14 points as 12th ranked Chaffey (9-3) used a big second half to pick up a 78-68 win over Desert (7-5). Shaquille Russell and Sam Skipper each had 14 points in the loss for the Roadrunners.
In the second game of the night, Psalm Maduakor had 22 points and 8 rebounds and Toby Okwuokei added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists as 13th ranked Citrus (8-5) cruised past Canyons 98-80. Anthony Simone had 21 points and 9 rebounds and Jordan Nash added 18 points and 8 assists in the loss for Canyons (7-8).
El Cajon, CA – Grossmont 75 Los Angeles Harbor 70
Lamon Hudson had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Josh Peloquin added 14 points and 8 rebounds as Grossmont (1-13) ended their 13 game losing streak and picked up their first victory of the season with a 75-70 win over Los Angeles Harbor (6-5). Henry Johnson scored a game high of 32 points and Matthew Garife added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
Cypress, CA – Cypress 64 Cuyamaca 51
Kae’Jon Barnes had 15 points and 9 rebounds and sophomore Mike Magee added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists as Cypress (9-3) continued their solid play and picked up a 64-51 home win against Cuyamaca (1-12). Frankie Gutierrez had 16 points and 10 assists in the loss for the Coyotes and was the only player who scored in double figures for Cuyamaca in the loss.
Mission Viejo, CA – (9) Saddleback 83 MiraCosta 50
Sean Birk and Ryan Beddeo each had 11 points as 9th ranked Saddleback (8-6) cruised past MiraCosta 83-50 in non conference action. Marcus Foster and Tre Morgan each had 8 points in the loss for MiraCosta (7-7).
San Pablo, CA – De Anza 96 Contra Costa 95
Ajay Singh had 35 points and Dominic Simpkins added 23 points as De Anza (7-6) picked up a 96-95 win over Contra Costa (4-8).
