Teams: (5) East Los Angeles (7-2), Mt. San Jacinto (5-7), (1) San Bernardino (10-0), (6) Fullerton, (7-3), Pasadena (4-3), Compton (1-5), (15) Riverside (5-4), Bethesda.

Matchups: The Riverside Holiday Classic Tournament begins today. Seven Southern California teams will take part at the three day event, and four ranked teams will be in action today in first round action.

In the first game of the day, 5th ranked East Los Angeles (7-2) will go into battle against Mt. San Jacinto (5-7). The Huskies come into the game winning four of their last five games. East Los Angeles went 2-1 last weekend at the Citrus Tournament and picked up a solid win over Fullerton. Roderick Williams leads the team in scoring averaging 14.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season. Jacob Tryon is averaging 12.3 points and 4.6 rebounds, and Frank Bertz is in double figures as the sophomore shooter is averaging 12.3 points and shooting 54% from downtown this season. Solomon Hunt (9.8 points and 6.2 rebounds), and Robert Fuller (8.1 points) have contributed for the Huskies. As for Mt. San Jacinto (5-7), the Eagles went 2-1 last weekend at their own tournament and picked up two close wins. The Eagles are 3-1 in games that are decided by 4 points or less and Mt. San Jacinto has played against ranked teams 8 times this season. Davon Sanders is averaging 18.8 points and 5.9 rebounds this season for the Eagles. The sophomore scored a season high of 33 points last weekend against Santiago Canyon. David Thompson is averaging 12.0 points per game and is the only other Eagle averaging in double figures this season. Mt. San Jacinto will look for C.J. Hyder (7.3 points), and A.J. Walton (7.1 points and 4.9 rebounds) to contribute in first round action against East Los Angeles.

In the 3pm game, Pasadena (4-3) will take on Compton (1-5). Compton comes into the tournament on a three game losing streak and the Tartars have struggled early this season after having a solid season a year ago. Armon Cook leads the Tartars in scoring averaging 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest this season. Chris Townsell (11.8 points and 4.8 rebounds), Jaylen Million (10.8 points)and L’Kieylnn Taylor (10.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists) have all played well for Compton early on this season. Pasadena comes into the contest on a three game winning streak after starting the season losing three of their first four games. Joe Hampton has been solid for the Lancers this season as the Long Beach State signee is averaging 19.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season. Kyle Mitchell has played well for Pasadena as the sophomore transfer from Sequoias is averaging 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds this season for the Lancers. Pasadena will look for their fourth straight victory in first round action against Compton.

At 5pm, we will see a very intriguing match up as top ranked San Bernardino (10-0) will look to pick up their eleventh straight victory against 6th ranked Fullerton (7-4) in first round action. The Wolverines are 5-0 against teams that are ranked within our current Signal The Light Basketball rankings this season. Kevin McNeal is averaging a team high of 13.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per contes this season. Craig LeCesne is having a solid season for the Wolverines as the sophomore is averaging 13.6 points and a team high of 6.8 rebounds per game. Kendall Lauderdale (9.9 points and 5.1 rebounds), Tymoryae Glover (8.1 points) and Chidi Udengwu (7.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists) have played well for the top ranked team through ten games this season. The Hornets will look to knock off the top ranked team and come into the game on a two game winning streak. Jason Richardson has been spectacular this season as the sophomore guard is averaging 19.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per contest this season. Khalil Stevenson is the only other Hornet to average in double figures as the sophomore is averaging 10.5 points and 4.4 rebounds this season. Vaj Rice (9.3 points and 4.2 rebounds) has been solid, Akil Reese (8.4 points), Rodrick McCobb (7.1 points) and Ronny Readus (6.3 points and 6.5 rebounds) have all contributed for the Hornets and will look to play well in first round action against San Bernardino.

In the final game of the night, 15th ranked Riverside (5-4) will open up against Bethesda. The Tigers will look to end their two game losing streak and advance to semi finals. Riverside is 1-4 in their last five games and will look to have a solid first round showing. Brae Ivey leads the Tigers in scoring as the sophomore standout is averaging 21.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists this season. Andre Wilson has been solid as for the Tigers as the sophomore is averaging 15.1 points per game. Jordan Robinson (14.4 points and 8.9 rebounds), and Kane Daniels (10.6 points and 6.2 rebounds) are both averaging in double figures and will look to contribute in first round action.
