Mt. San Jacinto takes over top spot in week 12 Socal Rankings

Southern California week 12 Signal The Light Basketball Rankings


1. Mt. San Jacinto (18-2): The Eagles move into the number one spot in the rankings for the first time this season after picking up two wins last week. Mt. San Jacinto picked up a 91-73 win over San Diego Miramar and followed that up with a 97-71 win over Palomar in conference action last week. Mt. San Jacinto has a 3-2 record against teams that are ranked this season and the Eagles have won six straight games. This week, the Eagles will have two games this week and Mt. San Jacinto face 5th ranked San Bernardino on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Desert on Friday.

2. East Los Angeles (17-3): The Huskies move up one spot in the rankings after picking up two wins last week. East Los Angeles picked up a 78-70 win over Chaffey and followed that with a 69-68 overtime win against Pasadena. The Huskies have won 10 straight games and have posted a 4-2 record against teams that are ranked inside of our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Huskies will be in action twice as East Los Angeles will take on Mt. San Antonio at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Rio Hondo on Friday.

3. Fullerton (19-2): The Hornets drop two spots after going 1-1 last week in Orange Empire Conference action. Fullerton picked up a 68-64 home win against Cypress but suffered their second loss of the season as the Hornets went on the road and lost against Copper Mountain 69-63. Fullerton has a 4-1 record against teams within our rankings and the Hornets will be in action twice this week in Orange Empire play. The Hornets will face Orange Coast at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against 13th ranked Santiago Canyon.

4. Southwestern (17-4): The Jaguars stay put at number four in the rankings following two wins last week in Pacific Coast South Conference action. Southwestern cruised past Imperial Valley 107-88 last week and followed that up with a 81-79 win over San Diego in conference action. Southwestern has a 3-3 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings and the Jaugars have put together a eight game winning streak. This week, Southwestern will face off against Grossmont on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against San Diego Mesa on Friday.

5. San Bernardino (16-5): The Wolverines move up two spots in the rankings following two wins last week in Pacific Coast North Conference action. San Bernardino picked up a 92-61 win over Palomar and followed that up with a 92-62 win over Desert in conference action last week. The Wolverines have played solid of late and have ran off nine straight wins and San Bernardino has posted a 2-3 record against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Wolverines will be in action twice as San Bernardino will host top ranked Mt. San Jacinto on on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against MiraCosta on Friday.

6. Los Angeles Trade Tech (16-3): The Beavers move up two spots in the rankings after posting two wins last week. Los Angeles Trade Tech picked up a 65-60 win over Mt. San Antonio and followed that game up with a 91-76 win over Rio Hondo. The Beavers are tied atop the South Coast North Conference standings after opening up conference with two straight wins and have posted four straight wins. Los Angeles Trade Tech has a 3-1 record against teams that are ranked inside of our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Beavers will face Pasadena on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with another road game against 14th ranked Chaffey on Friday.

7. Allan Hancock (17-4): The Bulldogs drop two spots in the rankings after posting a 1-1 record last week in Western State North Conference action. Hancock suffered a 83-82 loss against Ventura and followed that up with a 83-79 win over Moorpark on the road. Hancock has struggled of late as the Bulldogs are 2-2 in their last four games and have posted a 3-3 record against teams ranked inside of our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Bulldogs will face Santa Barbara on Wednesday and follow that up with road game against Cuesta on Saturday.

8. Cerritos (15-5): The Falcons move up two spots in the rankings after posting two victories last week. Cerritos cruised to a 94-75 victory over Long Beach as the Falcons knocked off the Vikings for the second time this season. The Falcons followed that win up with a 99-53 win over El Camino after losing their previous two games. Cerritos has posted a 6-4 record against teams within our week 12 rankings this season. This upcoming week, the Falcons will face Compton at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Los Angeles Southwest on Friday.

9. Long Beach (16-4): The Vikings drop three spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week. Long Beach lost to Cerritos 94-75 in their conference opener and followed that up with a 94-81 win over Compton on the road. Long Beach has lost two of their last three games and the Vikings have posted a 4-3 record against teams within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Vikings will face Los Angeles Harbor at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against El Camino on Friday.

10. Citrus (14-6): The Owls move up one spot in the rankings following their two wins last week in Western State East Conference play. Citrus cruised to a 93-65 win over Glendale and followed that up with a 93-74 win over Barstow as the Owls have now won three straight games to open up conference play. This season, Citrus has a 4-5 record against teams ranked inside of our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Owls are back in action as Citrus will face Antelope Valley on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against Victor Valley on Saturday.

11. Saddleback (13-8): The Gauchos move up two spots in the rankings after picking up a win last week. Saddleback cruised past Orange Coast 82-55 in their lone game of the week and the Gauchos have now won five of their last six games and are in a three way tie on top of the Orange Empire Conference. Saddleback has a 5-3 record against teams ranked inside of our rankings this season. The Gauchos will be in action twice this week as Saddleback will face off against Santa Ana on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against a very good Cypress team on Friday.

12. West Los Angeles (15-7): The Wildcats take a three spot drop in the rankings following a 1-1 week last week in conference action. West Los Angeles opened up conference action with a 89-65 home win against Los Angeles Pierce but suffered a set back losing to Santa Monica 89-75 on the road ending their seven game winning streak. The Wildcats have had a solid season and have put together a 2-5 record against teams that are ranked this season inside of our week 12 Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Wildcats will be in action twice as West Los Angeles will take on Bakersfield at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Canyons on Saturday.

13. Santiago Canyon (15-6): The Hawks move up two spots in the rankings after picking up two wins last week. Santiago Canyon needed overtime but picked up a 95-91 win over Irvine Valley and followed that up with a road win over Santa Ana 82-67 as the Hawks are in a three way tie for first place in Orange Empire Conference action. This season the Hawks have posted a 3-4 record against teams ranked inside of our rankings this season. Next up for Santiago Canyon will be 3rd ranked Fullerton at home on Friday in their lone game of the week in Orange Empire Conference action.

14. Chaffey (14-6): The Panthers drop two spots in the rankings after posting a 1-1 record last week. Chaffey lost to East Los Angeles 78-70 but followed that up with a big 80-50 win over Mt. San Antonio in South Coast North Conference action. The Panthers have won five of their last six games and Chaffey has posted a 3-6 record against teams that are ranked within our week 12 rankings. This week, the Panthers will be in action twice as Chaffey will battle Rio Hondo on the road on Wednesday and follow that game up with a home game against 6th ranked Los Angeles Trade Tech on Friday night.

15. Santa Monica (13-8): The Corsairs come into the rankings after picking up a huge win last week. Santa Monica picked up a 89-75 win over West Los Angeles as it was the Corsaris second straight win over a ranked opponent and Santa Monica has won five of their last six games. The Corsairs have posted a 4-5 record against teams that are ranked within our week 12 rankings and Santa Monica continues to improve this season. This week, the Corsairs will be in action twice as Santa Monica will face Canyons on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against Los Angeles Pierce on Saturday.
