Mt. San Jacinto picks up win over Chaffey

In first day action at the Mt. San Jacinto Tournament, 13th ranked Riverside (5-2) picked up an 83-70 win over Canyons (4-4). Jude Agbasi had 14 points and 4 rebounds and Anthony Simone added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Cougars.

In other action, Lenzell Simmons had 20 points and Deshawn Millington added 19 points and 9 rebounds as 3rd ranked Mt. San Jacitno (7-1) with a 94-82 win over Chaffey (3-3). Anthony Garcia had 17 points and Andy Torices added 13 points in the loss for the Panthers.


Monterey Bay Classic

In first round action in Monterey, five Gavilan players scored in double figures as DJ Burgess and Kurtis McCoy each had 13 points and 4th ranked Gavilan (7-1) picked up a 97-56 win over Alameda (1-6) in first round action.

In other action, Isaiah Mahmud had 15 points and Geoff Salas added 14 points as Irvine Valley (3-4) picked up an 74-58 win over Hartnell (3-3). The Lasers will face off against 4th ranked Gavilan in the semi finals while Hartnell will take on Alameda in the consolation bracket.

In the third game of the day, Talili Leaea had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks, and Anthony Dennis added 17 points and 7 rebounds as Monterey (4-5) moved into the semi finals with a 70-57 win over Cypress (3-2).

In the last game of the first round, Solano (1-5) picked up their first win of the season with a 84-83 double overtime victory over Santa Barbara (1-4). Solano will face off against Monterey in the semi finals while Santa Barbara will face Cypress in the consolation bracket in day two action tomorrow.


West LA Wild West Shootout

In first round action in Culver City, Dominique Alexander had 29 points and Jordan Griffin added 22 points as 11th ranked Compton (5-1) cruised past Los Angeles Valley 93-66 earlier this afternoon. Kody Knox had 20 points and 6 rebounds and Johnnie Coleman II added 10 points in the loss for Los Angeles Valley (4-4).

In the second game of the day, Anthony McIentyre had 16 points and Christian Guillory added 11 points and 7 rebounds as Los Angeles Pierce (4-2) slipped past Glendale 55-52 in 1st round action. Tre’j Floyd had 16 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Glendale (1-5).

In the third game of the day, Derrick Woods had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Dwight Murray added 14 points and 7 rebounds as West Los Angeles (6-3) used a big second half to get past Santa Ana 94-83 to advance to the semi finals against Compton tomorrow. Ramon Lopez had 18 points and made six three pointers and Jared Springer added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for Santa Ana (1-4). Santa Ana will take on Los Angeles Valley in the consolation bracket.

In the finale of first day action, Jamiu Akinbile scored 19 points and added 9 rebounds and Charles Smith added 18 points and 6 rebounds as 8th ranked Long Beach (7-1) overcame a 14 point halftime deficit and beat Barstow 76-66 to advance to the semi finals tomorrow against Los Angeles Pierce. Greg Walter had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Jack McDonald added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for Barstow (0-7) who will take on Glandale tomorrow in the consolation bracket.


James Clark Classic

In first round action in Sacramento, Goose Persin had 28 points and Michael Hayes added 15 points as 2nd ranked Las Positas (5-0) won their fifth straight game with a 81-79 over Merced (2-5).

In the second game of the day, Jacoby Simon had 22 points and Jordan Garner added 17 points as 11th ranked Feather River (5-0) stayed undefeated cruising past Napa Valley 70-53. Braxton Adderly had 18 points and Tomas Gomez-Espana added 12 points in the loss for Napa (0-7).

In other action, Alex Velasquez had 25 points and Deandre Churchill added 17 points as Siskiyous (1-9) ended their nine game losing streak picking up a 76-72 over Cosumnes River (3-4) to move into the semi finals tomorrow against 2nd ranked Las Positas. Meanwhile, Cosumnes River will face Merced in the consolation bracket.

In the last game of the evening, Mason Johnson had 20 points and Chris Lennear added 13 points and 5 steals as Sacramento (5-3) moved into the semi finals with a 74-71 win over 13th ranked Reedley (0-1). Ruben Parks had 26 points and Khalid Wilkins added 16 points in the loss. Sacramento will face Feather River tomorrow in the semi finals and Reedley will take on Napa Valley in the consolation bracket.

Sophomore Skylar Chavez scored 36 points as 3rd ranked Santa Rosa (6-1) went on the road and picked up a 93-73 win over Los Medanos (4-3).
