Merritt brings home Hancock Tournament championship

Hancock Tournament

In the championship of the Hancock Tournament, Deon Steward had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Karim Helali added 13 points and 3 assists as Merritt (7-7) won the championship game with a 74-59 win over Cuesta (9-9). Noah Saunders had 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Nico Gonzalez added 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Cougars in the loss.

In the third place game of the tournament, Javae Lumpkins had 20 points and made six three pointers and Shane Carney added 15 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds as Allan Hancock (10-6) got two late free throws from Devin Davis and slipped past Palomar 75-74 to take home third place. Jackson Strong made six three pointers and had 31 points and Matt Meyers added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Palomar (9-7) in the loss.

In the consolation final of the Hancock Tournament, Jamar Hammonds had 25 points and 7 rebounds, and Jaylunn English added 21 points and 11 rebounds as Bakersfield (8-5) picked up the consolation championship with a 77-67 win over Chabot (2-13). Jordan Gilmete had 14 points and Devin Smith added 12 points and 4 rebounds in the loss for the Gladiators.

Cuyamaca Tournament

In the championship game of the Cuyamaca Tournament, 2nd ranked East Los Angeles (12-3) cruised to the championship blowing out Cerrro Coso 132-81 to bring home the title.

In the third place game, Jamain Jones had 17 points and Tristan Angelo added 17 points and 6 assists as Victor Valley (10-5) slipped past Antelope Valley 76-74 to bring home third place. Osi Nwachukwu had 25 points and 16 rebounds and D’Mauria Jones added 20 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Antelope Valley (9-8).

In the consolation final 4th ranked San Diego Miramar (11-3) cruised to a 76-55 victory over Cypress (6-9) to bring home the consolation championship. Mike Magee had 18 points and Hayden Moore added 14 points in the loss for the Chargers in the loss.

Siskiyous Tournament

Umpqua picked up a 101-54 win over Siskiyous in the final day at the Siskiyous Tournament.

Kentfield, CA – Mendocino 83 Marin 76

Jamarlin Jackson had 29 points and Nate Hale added 16 points as Mendocino (9-4, 1-1) picked up thier first conference win with a 83-76 road victory over Marin (1-9, 0-2). Derek Morgan had 17 points and Joey Potts added 15 points in the loss for the Mariners.

Aptos, CA – (2) Fresno 107 Cabrillo 75

Jess Spivey made eight three pointers and had 26 points and Fred Lavender added 15 points as 2nd ranked Fresno (12-3) won their sixth game in a row with a 107-75 win on the road against Cabrillo (7-7).

Redwood City, CA – (7) Sequoias 90 Canada 73

Isiah Armstead had 25 points and Connor Tuttle added 23 points as 7th ranked Sequoias (10-4) won their tenth game on the season with a 90-73 win over Canada (8-8).

Saratoga, CA – West Valley 83 Skyline 79

Delvon Nisby and Christian Mejia each scored 22 points as West Valley (9-7) won their second straight game with a 83-79 win over Skyline (8-8).

Joshua Tree, CA – (8) Copper Mountain 74 Compton 72

Trevon Bentley had 17 points and Jailen Moore added 15 points as 8th ranked Copper Mountain (13-4) picked up a 74-72 win against Compton (2-10).

Riverside, CA – Ventura 72 (12) Riverside 66

Jacob Alonzo continues to stay hot as the sophomore guard had 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists and John Williams added 15 points and 7 rebounds as Ventura (12-6) picked up a solid non conference victory over 12th ranked Riverside (9-5). Kane Daniels had 19 points and 6 rebounds and Andre Wilson added 15 points and 4 assists in the loss for the Tigers.

Monterey, CA – (5) Las Positas 80 Monterey 63

Jason Aguilera had 17 points and Peter Hewitt added 14 points as 5th ranked Las Positas (12-4) picked up a 80-63 win over Monterey (9-7) to close out the year. Marcus Wallace had 16 points in the loss for the Lobos.

Torrance, CA – (10) West Hills 116 El Camino 111

Winder Joseph had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Eric Hollins-Hamilton added 19 points and 11 rebounds as 10th ranked West Hills (9-2) built a big first half lead and got past El Camino 116-111 in non conference action on Saturday night. Justin Chambers made eight three pointers and had 32 points and Tristan Egans added 16 points and 4 steals in the loss for the El Camino (4-10).

Mission Viejo, CA – Saddleback 71 Glendale 38

Shawn Stith had 16 points and 4 rebounds and J.J. Overton added 10 points and 4 rebounds as Saddleback (8-8) moved to .500 with a 71-38 non conference win over Glendale (5-9). Chris Daniels had 11 points and Jordan Matthews added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Vaqueros.

Nemanja Kovacevic made six three pointers and had 20 points and Darae Elliott added 14 points and 12 rebounds as 6th ranked Butte (12-3) picked up a big non conference home win against 13th ranked Columbia (5-4). Marquell Hubbard had 26 points and Yosnier Cobas added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for the Claim Jumpers.

Reedley, CA – Reedley 82 Hartnell 74

Ruben Parks had 23 points and Hassan Bolden added 22 points as Reedley (4-8) picked up a 82-74 win over Hartnell (8-6).
