Lassen wins in first round

Day two of the Modesto Tournament saw some great first round action as 9th ranked Norcal team Lassen beat 5th ranked Southern California Cuesta 83-74. Diondrey Holt scored 29 points for Lassen (14-3) in the victory. The Cougars have now won three straight games. Rafael Casanova led Cuesta with 16 points and Keyshawn Liggins added 15 points for Cuesta (9-3) in the loss.

Jordan Belton scored 21 points and point guard Nate Vieira added 16 points as De Anza (5-6) cruised to a first round victory over Mendocino 81-68. Mendocino (3-5) has now lost 4 of its last 5 games.

Modesto, CA – (2) Fresno 78 Allan Hancock 68

Nick Hilton scored 13 points and Christian Carroll added 12 points as second ranked Fresno (10-3) won their 10th game on the season with a first round victory over Allan Hancock Wednesday afternoon. Lawrence Johnson had 17 points in the loss for Allan Hancock (5-6).

Modesto, CA – Foothill 70 Yuba 67

J.J. Espinolla scored 23 points and Janvier Alaby added 18 points as Foothill (6-6) edged Yuba in the first round action. Manny Malou had 22 points and Jalen Coates added 14 points in the loss for Yuba (3-5).

Glendale Tournament – Glendale, CA

Edward Meledje had 15 points and Tim Pace added 13 points and 6 rebounds as Cuyamaca (4-4) beat tournament host Glendale 68-55 in the first day of the Glendale Tournament. Juwan Thomas had 16 points for Glendale (1-7) in the loss. In the second game of the day, 13th ranked Victor Valley (10-6) picked up its 10th win of the season beating Palomar 87-84. Kimani Lane had 20 points and Steve Evans added 16 in the win for the Rams. Palomar has now loss three games in a row and moves to 5-5.

Compton, CA – El Camino-Compton Center 82 Grossmont 64

Larenzo Murphy had 14 points and Jayvon Brown added 11 points as Compton (5-5) dominated Grossmont 82-64. Compton led by 31 at the break and never looked back. Shane Shelton had 14 points in the loss for Grossmont (5-6).

Walnut, CA – (1) Mt. San Antonio 72 Riverside 45

Stephaun Branch scored 12 points and Blake Hamilton added 10 points as top ranked Mt. San Antonio (13-0) stayed undefeated with a win over Riverside Wednesday night.
