Las Positas takes home title in first weekend

Las Positas Tournament

In the final day of the Las Positas Tournament, Jason Ketchel had 24 points and Anand Hundal added 14 points as 5th ranked Las Positas (3-0) crushed 8th ranked Diablo Valley 99-67 to win the championship. Brandynn Manning had 16 points and Demarre Walker added 12 points in the loss for Diablo Valley (2-1).

In the third place game, Marquell Hubbard scored 38 points and Al Burge added 22 points as 15th ranked Columbia (2-1) picked up a 89-83 win in overtime over Sacramento (1-2). Reeshahr Crawford had 25 points and Ryan Reed added 23 for the Panthers in the overtime loss.

In the consolation championship, Darae Elliott had 17 points and Terry Clarendon added 10 points as 3rd ranked Butte (2-1) overcame a halftime deficit to take home the consolation championship over Contra Costa (1-2). Kemare Wright had 23 points and Eric Jones added 12 points and 7 assists in the loss for the Comets.

Miramar Tournament

In the championship game, Keshaun Mack had 21 points and Jason Carter added 17 points and 6 rebounds as 5th ranked opened up a 23 point lead as 5th ranked Cerritos (3-0) held off Miramar 99-98 to bring home the championship. Deion Alston had 18 points and Blake Seits added 16 points in the loss for Miramar (2-1).

In the third place game, Parker Sims had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists and Daniel Hernandez added 14 points and 3 assists as Irvine Valley (2-1) beat Mira Costa 66-54 to take home third place. Xavier Allison had 21 points and 4 rebounds in the loss for Mira Costa (1-2).

In the consolation final, Emilio Arellano had 16 points and 9 rebounds and Jose Serrano added 15 points and 8 rebounds as 14th ranked Southwestern (2-1) knocked off Imperial Valley 78-66. Marquis Ellison had 10 points in the loss for Imperial Valley (1-2).

Desert Tournament

In the championship game, Kevin Mcneal had 20 points and 5 rebounds and Tymorae Glover added 15 points as 2nd ranked San Bernardino (3-0) won the Desert Tournament with a 74-64 win over 9th ranked Copper Mountain (2-1). Murshid Randle had 18 points and 7 rebounds and Ronald Bell added 14 points and 19 rebounds in the loss for the Fighting Cacti.

In the third place game, Shawn Stith had 17 points and 9 rebounds, and Reggie Varner added 15 points as 4th ranked Saddleback (2-1) brought home third place beating West Los Angels 65-53. Traonte Jones had 23 points in the loss for West Los Angeles (1-2).

In the consolation final of the Desert Tournament, David Wheeler had 21 points and 7 assists and Ronald Blain added 20 points and 8 rebounds as 13th ranked Grossmont (2-1) knocked off Glendale (AZ) 83-64 to take home the consolation championship.

Ventura Touranent

In the championship game of the Ventura Tournament, Brae Ivey had 28 points and 8 rebounds and Andre Wilson added 17 points and 6 rebounds as 6th ranked Riverside (3-0) cruised to an 88-69 win over Orange Coast (2-1). Joshua Davis had 23 points and 9 rebounds and Kupaa Harrison added 18 points in the loss for the Pirates.

In the third place game, Lavale Coleman had 20 points and 6 rebounds and Jackson Strong continued his hot start as the sharp shooter added 17 points and 6 rebounds as Palomar (2-1) slipped past 7th ranked Antelope Valley 77-74 to take home third place. D’Mauria Jones had 30 points and Osi Nwachukwu added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for Antelope Valley (1-2).

In the consolation final, Isiah Reyes had 23 points and Jacob Alonzo added 22 points as tournament host Ventura (2-1) picked up a 92-84 win in the consolation final. Joe Hampton had 28 points and Kyle Mitchell added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Pasadena (1-2).

 

San Diego Tournament

In the semi finals of the San Diego Tournament, Luis Salgado made five three pointers and had 19 points and Wonder Smith added 18 points as top ranked San Diego (2-0) pulled away late and picked up a 99-81 win over 12th ranked Mt. San Jacinto. Davon Sanders had 23 points and 12 rebounds and David Thompson added 15 points in the loss for Mt. San Jacinto (1-1)

In the second semi final, Jason Richardson had 32 points and took over in the 2nd half and Khalil Stevenson added 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists as 8th ranked Fullerton overcame a 15 point halftime deficit took knock off 10th ranked Citrus 78-71 to advance to the championship game. Jeremy Smith had 25 points and 5 assists and Miles Crawford added 20 points in the loss for Citrus (1-1). The Hornets will face off against San Diego tomorrow in a rematch of the state championship from last season.

In the consolation bracket at the San Diego Tournament, Morrie Neeley had 15 points and Armstrong Ojunkwu added 14 points and 11 rebounds as San Diego Mesa (1-1) picked up a 85-73 win over Cuyamaca (0-2). Abe Ali had 18 points and 8 rebounds and Saiyeed Mershon added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for the Coyotes.

In the second semi final of the consolation bracket, Quincy Pinkard had 23 points and 6 rebounds and Henry Johnson added 17 points and 5 assists as Los Angeles Harbor (1-1) overcame a 13 point deficit to pick up a 74-71 win over Barstow (0-2). Will Pierce had 13 points and Borja Soriano March added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the loss for the Vikings. Los Angeles Harbor will face San Diego Mesa in the consolation championship tomorrow.

San Francisco Tournament

In the semi finals of the San Francisco Tournament, Tyus Millhollin had 30 points and Tommy Nuno added 12 points and 12 assists as 2nd ranked Fresno (2-0) knocked off 4th ranked Canada 93-77 to move into the Finals tomorrow against top ranked San Francisco. Antony Navarrette had 23 points and Keith Dickerson added 18 points in the loss for Canada (1-1) who will face Yuba in the third place game tomorrow.

In the second semi final, Terrell Brown had 21 points and Eddy Ionescu added 12 points as top ranked San Francisco (2-0) cruised past 7th ranked Yuba 96-81 to advance to the title game tomorrow. Josh Dhatt had 21 points and Elishja Duplechan added 19 points in the loss for Yuba (1-1).

In the consolation bracket, Skylar Chavez had 16 points and Sadik Sufi added 14 points as 10th ranked Santa Rosa (1-1) advanced to the consolation championship with a 101-70 win over 9th ranked Napa (0-2). Dre Twilly had 19 points and Sasha French added 10 points in the loss for Napa.

In the second game on the consolation side, Marc Howard Jr. Had 30 points and Derrick Irenen added 16 points as Mt. San Antonio (1-1) picked up a 105-90 win over Alameda (0-2). The Mounties will next face Santa Rosa in the consolation final tomorrow.

San Jose City College Tournament

In the championship of the San Jose Tournament, Brian King had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Xander Bowers added 17 points and 14 rebounds as Gavilan (3-0) remained undefeated and cruised past 13th ranked Foothill 73-55 to win the championship. Foothill moves to 2-1 with the loss to the Rams.

In the third place game, Elijah Nesbit had 15 points and 11 assists and Deshawnte Collins added 16 points and 10 rebounds as 14th ranked Monterey (2-1) beat San Jose 80-68 to take home third place.

In the consolation final, Kam Brandon had 14 points as Lassen (2-1) picked up a 57-54 win over Merced (1-2) to take home the consolation championship.

Sierra Tournament

In the championship game, Gerard Andrus had 24 points and Jamel White added 13 points as 12th ranked Feather River (2-0) edged Solano 64-58 to bring home the championship. Isaiah Duplechan had 18 points and Leon Williams added 14 points for Solano (1-1) in the loss.

In the consolation championship of the Sierra Tournament,   Kenny Olsem had 20 points and Josh Gonzalez added 19 points as Sierra (1-1) picked up a 89-61 win over Chabot (0-2). Jordan Gilmente had 15 points and Devin Smith added 11 points in the loss for the Gladiators.

Santa Ana/Santiago Canyon Tournament

In the final day of action at the Santa Ana/Santiago Canyon Tournament, Antoine Jenkins went off for 38 points and Rocket Henderson added 25 points as Santiago Canyon (3-0) remained undefeated with a 102-85 win over 11th ranked Bakersfield (2-1). Jamar Hammonds had 39 points and 12 rebounds and Jaylunn English added 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss for the Renegades.

In other action, Jeremiah Sadler had 33 points and Matthew Wooten added 18 points and 11 rebound as Long Beach (1-2) picked up thier first victory of the season with a 90-83 win over Chaffey (1-2). Jared Nyivih had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Christopher Sorapuru added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for the Vikings.

In the night cap, Cameron High had 30 points and Xavier Gunter added 20 points and 29 rebounds as Santa Ana (2-1) slipped past El Camino (0-3) in double overtime 131-130. Troy Biglow had 32 points and Justin Chambers added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Warriors.

Cuesta Tournament

In the second day at the Cuesta Tournament, Devonte Johnson scored 24 points and Delvon Nisby added 23 points as West Valley (2-0) picked up thier second win of the season edging 15th ranked Allan Hancock 74-73. Shane Carney had 19 points and Devin Davis added 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assist in the loss for Hancock (1-1).

In other action, Kody Wilson had 25 points and 11 rebounds as 6th ranked Sequoias (1-1) picked up their first win of the season with a 73-51 win over Santa Barbara (0-2). Drayten Howell had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss for the Vaqueros.

In the last game of the evening, Darius Scott ha 26 points and Ricardo Time added 23 points and 6 rebounds as West Hills (1-1) got by Cuesta 98-87 to pick up their first win of the season. Noah Saunders had 25 points and 11 rebounds and Jorge Bueno added 14 points and 3 assists in the loss for Cuesta (1-1).

Cabrillo Tip Off

In opening night in Aptos, Tynan Velasquez had 22 points and Linton Acliese added 17 points as 11th ranked Cabrillo (1-0) picked up a 70-57 win over College of the Redwoods (0-1).

In the other game of the night Shasta (1-0) picked up a season opening win 83-73 over San Joaquin Delta (0-1). Alex Smith had 17 points and Alvin Crenshaw added 15 points in the loss to the Knights.
