Knights take home championship with late game buzzer beater

Livermore, CA – San Diego 53 Fullerton 51

Darien McClain went the length of the floor with 4.1 seconds left to hit the game winning shot as San Diego City College picked up a 53-51 win over  Fullerton to bring home their first state championship in the schools history. The Knights trailed by as many as 7 points with around seven minutes to go and San Diego pulled off the win with the late hoop by the University of Tampa transfer. Alex Wilbourn had 13 points and 8 rebounds and tournament MVP Darien McClain and Robert Taylor added 11 points in the victory. Kendall Lauderdale had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Dillon Reise added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Hornets. Sophomore CCCAA player of the Year Ian Fox and Kenny Barnes combined to go 2 of 22 from the floor in the loss. Both teams did not shoot the ball very well but it was a solid game between two respected teams in California junior college basketball.
