Matchups: The Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament will get started later today as seven Southern California teams and one Northern California team will take part at the three day event. Two ranked teams will take the field and San Bernardino appears to be the favorite coming into the tournament.

In first round action, top ranked San Bernardino (7-0) will face off against Rio Hondo (1-4) for a place in the semi finals on Saturday. Kevin McNeal leads the Wolverines in scoring as the sophomore is averaging 12.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest. Craig LeCesne is averaging 11.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest through seven games. Kendall Lauderdale (9.7 points), Tymorae Glover (8.4 points), Chidi Udengwu (8.3 points) and Chis Johnson (8.4 points) will look to contribute in first round action against Rio Hondo. The Roadrunners will look to upset the top ranked team in our Signal The Light Basketball Southern California rankings with their second straight win. Kenyatta Louder leads Rio Hondo in scoring as the sophomore is averaging 23.2 points per contest. Jesus Hernandez (18.2 points and 3.4 rebounds) and Anthony Rios (10.8 points) are both averaging in double figures and will look to have a big game against San Bernaridno.

In the second game of the tournament, Los Angeles Harbor (4-3) will look to pick up their thrid straight win as the Seahawks will face 13th ranked Ventura (8-2). Los Angeles Harbor comes into the game on a two game winning streak and the Seahawks will look to pick up a first round victory over Ventura. The Seahawks are led by Quincy Pinkard who averages 19.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest this season. Henry Johnson (18.4 points) and sophomore Joel Anderson (18.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.0 assists) has been solid for Los Angeles Harbor this season. On the other side of the ball, 13th ranked Ventura comes into the game on a six game winning streak. Isiah Reyes leads the Pirates in scoring as the sophomore guard is averaging 16.7 points per contest. Jacob Alonzo (14.9 points) and John Williams (12.7 points) are the other two Pirates averaging in double figures this season for Ventura. The winner of this game will take on the San Bernardino/Rio Hondo winner.

In the third game of the tournament, De Anza (3-3) will look to end their two game losing streak as the Dons will face off against Mira Costa (3-4). The Dons are coming off a loss earlier this week against Fresno and will look to get back on track against Mira Costa. Ahmad Young leads the Dons in scoring averaging 16.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest. Terrance Jackson (16.0 points) and Ajay Sing is averaging 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest through six games. The Sparrtns will look to end their two game losing streak in first round action as Mira Costa have two players that are averaging in double figures this season. The Spartans are led by Cody Hicks as the sophomore is averaging 15.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. Hicks is shooting 47% from behind the three point line for Mira Costa this season. Xavier Allison is averaging 12.7 points and 4.5 rebounds this seaso for Mira Costa. It should be a solid match up between two teams trying to get back on track.

In the final game of first round action, El Camino (2-5) will look to end thier two game losing streak as the Warriors will face off against tournament host Antelope Valley (3-4). Troy Biglow leads the team in scoring as he averaging 17.8 points per contest. Isiah Armstead (15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds), Justin Reyes (13.0 points) and Omosa Ogunsuyi (11.6 points) are all averaging in double figures this season for one of the highest scoring teams in the state. The Marauders on the other hand will look to end their two game losing streak going into first round action. D’Mauria Jones has had a solid start to the season as the sophomore is averaging 21.4 points and 4.0 rebounds this season for Antelope Valley. Osi Nwachukwu has been solid for the Marauders as the sophomore is averaging 11.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest. Julian Payton will look to contribute for the Marauders as the freshman point guard is averaging 9.1 points and is a key player for the Marauders this season.
