In the semi finals at the Fullerton Tournament on Friday night, Robert McCoy had 27 points and 9 rebounds, and Wonder Smith added 17 points and 4 rebounds as top ranked San Diego (5-0) overcame a late deficit and slipped past 9th ranked Citrus 92-91 in overtime to move into the finals tomorrow. Jeremy Smith had 32 points and Kyle Gray added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for Citrus (3-2).
In the second semi final, sophomore transfer Jason Richardson had 32 points and 5 assists and Vaj Rice added 11 points as 7th ranked Fullerton (4-1) cruised past 14th ranked Mt. San Jacinto 77-61 to set up a rematch of last weekends San Diego City College Tournament championship. Davon Sanders had 12 points and 6 rebounds, and Donnell Payne added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for Mt. San Jacinto (2-3). Mt. San Jacinto will face off against 9th ranked Citrus today in the third place game.
In the consolation bracket, sophomore Armstrong Ojunkwu had 19 points and 19 rebounds and Perry Davis added 17 points and 4 rebounds as San Diego Mesa (3-2) got past 11th ranked Bakersfield 69-64 to advance to the consolation championship today against Canyons. Jammar Hammonds had 21 points and 6 rebounds, and Tucker Eenigenburg added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for Bakersfield (2-3).
In the second consolation game, Jacob Lilley had 19 points and 5 assists and Michael Kalu added 15 points as Canyons (2-2) picked up a 66-63 win over Chaffey (1-4) to advance to the consolation final against San Diego Mesa. Isaiah McCullogh had 22 points and Darrion Willies added 11 points in 14 minutes in the loss for the Panthers.
In the semi finals of the Solano Tournament, Leon Williams had 20 points and Isaiah Duplechan added 16 points as Solano (3-1) picked up a 69-59 win over American River (1-1) to move into the finals.
In the second semi final, sophomore standout Gabe Serna had 30 points and Reeshahr Crawford added 19 points as Sacramento (3-2) advanced to the championship with a 92-79 win over Reedley (1-2). Jeron Bowers had 21 points and Ruben Parks added 17 points in the loss for the Tigers. Sacramento will next face Gavilan in the title game, and Reedley will face off against American River in the third place game.
In the first consolation game, Los Medanos (1-1) picked up a 71-56 win over Shasta (1-3).
In the second consolation game, Skyline picked up a 64-56 win over Redwoods (0-4). Los Medanos will face off against Skyline in the consolation championship game.
In the semi finals of the Ohlone Tournament, Shane Carney had 16 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds, and Trenton Mitchell added 8 points and 20 rebounds as Allan Hancock (3-2) won their second game in a row with a 68-63 win over Tournament host Ohlone (1-1). The Bulldogs over came an 11 point halftime deficit and will face Monterey in the championship game.
In the second semi final, Anthony Dennis had 12 points and 3 rebounds, and Elijah Nesbit added 11 points and 4 assist as 15th ranked Monterey (4-1) won their third consecutive game with a 83-74 win over 10th ranked Canada (2-3). Antony Navarrette had 31 points and Keith Dickerson added 13 points in the loss for the Colts. Canada will face Ohlone in the 3rd place game of the tournament.
In the consolation bracket Ventura (3-2) picked up a 92-88 win over Lassen (2-3) to move into the consolation championship game.
In other action, Jemeil King had 25 points and Donte Walker added 24 points as Modesto (2-1) picked a 90-72 win over Marin (0-3). Modesto will next face Ventura in the consolation final.
Victor Valley Tournament
In the final day of the Victor Valley Tournament, Zach Christian put on another solid performance as the big man had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Nate Clark added 16 points and 5 rebounds as Victor Valley (2-0) picked up another win knocking off Porterville 82-74. Damoni Jones had 25 points and Malik McCowan added 15 points for Porterville (1-3) in the loss.
In other action, Barstow (1-4) picked up thier first win of the season with a 100-81 win over Imperial Valley (1-5). It was the fourth loss in a row for the Arabs.
In day one at the Hartnell Tournament, Jessy Hurtado had 21 points and Spencer Conrad added 19 points as Hartnell (1-0) picked up a season opening win 71-66 over Cerro Coso (0-1). Cameron Redd had 15 points and Adrian Dickson added 12 points in the loss for the Coyotes.
In other action, Brian King had 27 points and Stephen
Williams added 14 points as 13th ranked Gavilan (4-0) won their fourth straight game on the season with a 98-53 win over Siskiyous (0-3). Deontrey Fuller had 12 points in the loss for the Eagles.
Gavilan will face off against Cerro Coso later today and tournament host Hartnell will take on Siskiyous.
