Friday night action across the state

City College of San Francisco Tip Off Tournament


In the first game of the day, sophomore Georgie Dancer had 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds and Ethan Richardson added 17 points and 6 rebounds as 2nd ranked Fresno (1-0) opened up their 2018-2019 campaign with a 81-55 win over Napa Valley (0-1). Fresno will face San Francisco tomorrow in a battle of our number one and number two teams in our Norcal Preseason poll. Meanwhile, Napa and Alameda will face off on the consolation side.

In other action, Western Arizona picked up a 80-70 victory over 7th ranked Yuba (0-1) to start the season off. Brandon Recek scored 30 points in the loss for the 49ers.

In the third game of the day, Malcolm Johnson had 19 points, and Austin McCollough added 18 points and four other Rams scored in double figures as top ranked San Francisco (1-0) cruised past Alameda 124-100 in first day action. Savon Crowley had 24 points and Patrick Washington had 20 points in the loss for Alameda (0-1).

In the final game of the night, Skylar Chavez opened up the season scoring 24 points and Atmar Mundu added 16 points as 6th ranked Santa Rosa (1-0) advanced to the semi finals with 87-74 win over Mt. San Antonio (0-1) Daniel Dejoya had 27 points and Akinola Branco added 17 points in the loss for the Mounties. Santa Rosa will face Western Arizona in the semi finals while Mt. San Antonio will take on Yuba on the consolation side.


Frank Garcia Desert Tip Off Tournament Day #2

In day action in Palm Desert, Jamain Owens, Eric Figueroa and Glen Gatlin all had 16 points as Victor Valley (1-1) slipped past 13th ranked Copper Mountain 83-76 in second day action. Anthony Rice had 17 points and 11 assists and Kenny Bates added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for Copper Mountain (1-1).

In the second game of the day, Damani Washington had 10 points and 4 rebounds and Arian Azemi added 10 points as 8th ranked San Bernardino (2-0) won their second straight game with a 81-44 win over Grossmont (0-2). Jamal Johnson had 9 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Griffins.

In the night cap of day two, Derrick Woods had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and Dwight Murray added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists as 14th ranked West Los Angeles (2-0) picked up another early win edging tournament host Desert 82-80. Sam Skipper made four three pointers and had 27 points and Riley Welch added 19 points and 8 assists for Desert (1-1) in the home loss.


Knights Invitational

In first round action at the Knights Invitational, Sam Gagliardi made five three pointers and had 19 points and 8 rebounds and William Delgado added 12 points and 8 rebounds as 3rd ranked Citrus (1-0) opened up a 63-16 lead at the halftime and cruised to a 104-52 win over Orange Coast (0-1). Kekai Smith had 11 points and 4 rebounds in the loss for the Pirates.

In the second game of the day, sophomore Trevor Drake had 15 points and Robby Robinson had 15 points and 10 rebounds as 7th ranked San Diego (1-0) opened up their season with a 101-83 win over Barstow (0-1). Carver Locke had 22 points and 5 rebounds and Greg Walter added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings in the loss. The Knights will face Citrus tomorrow in the title game and Orange Coast and Barstow will play in the consolation championship tomorrow.


Tony Costello Memorial Tournament Day #2

In day two action in Livermore, Greg Minton III made four three pointers and had 18 points and Kyle Williams added 15 points as Sacramento (1-1) cruised past Siskiyous 77-56 to pick up their first win of the season. Montell Willis had 22 points and Deandre Churchill added 19 points in the loss for Siskiyous (0-2).

In the second game of the day 15th ranked Canada (2-0) won their second straight game cruising past Contra Costa 107-86. Evan Thompson had 21 points and Eric Jones added 19 points and 6 assists in the loss for the Contra Costa (1-1).

In other action, Michael Hayes had a game high of 23 points and Alafia Oluwosogo added 14 points as 5th ranked Las Positas (2-0) stayed undefeated with a 79-62 win over Butte (0-2). Noah Zoppi had 15 points and Kehmarr McMillian added 14 points in the loss for the Roadrunners.


Don Gehler Memorial Tournament Day #2

In the semi finals of the Don Gehler Memorial Tournament, sophomore Blake Seits continues to stay hot as the guard made six three pointers and had a game high of 33 points and 7 rebounds and Damien Miller added 16 points and 8 rebounds as San Diego Miramar (2-0) moved into the championship game with a 86-61 win over Palomar (1-1). Michael Chatman had 12 points and 7 rebounds and Anthony Routh added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Comets.

In the second semi final, Daisone Hughes had 24 points and 6 rebounds, and Daniel Zahabian added 12 points as 15th ranked Santa Monica (2-0) moved into the championship game with a 85-65 win over Imperial Valley (1-1). Quincy Brown had 15 points and 7 rebounds and Brenden Brocious added 15 points in the loss for the Arabs. Santa Monica will face Miramar in the title game tomorrow and Imperial Valley and Palomar will meet in the 3rd place game.

In the consolation bracket at the Don Gehler Memorial Tournament, Tysan Harris had 17 points and 6 rebounds, and Uziel Felix and Elijah McElroy each added 16 points as Rio Hondo (1-1) picked up their first win of the season with a 67-60 win over Cuyamaca (0-2). Frankie Gutierrez made five three pointers and had 19 points and 6 rebounds and Devin Hilliard added 12 points and 4 rebounds in the loss for the Coyotes.

In the second consolation game, Marquavian Stephens went 9 for 9 from the floor and had 24 points and 8 rebounds and DJ Wilson added 13 points as 9th ranked Southwestern (1-1) evened out their record with a 85-54 win over MiraCosta (0-2). Andrew Thomton had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss and was the only Spartan in double figures in the loss.


Ventura College We Play Hard Tournament Day #2

In the first game of day two at the Ventura College We Play Hard Tournament, Cj Clark had 12 points and Cam’Ron Wilson added 10 points as 11th ranked Riverside (2-0) edged Los Angeles Valley 67-64 for their second consecutive win. Micah Cooper made four three pointers and had 21 points and 8 rebounds and Chrisitian Simonian added 12 points in the loss for Los Angeles Valley (1-1).

In other action in Ventura, Steve Johnson made four three pointers and had a team high of 14 points and Julian Payton added 11 points and 4 rebounds as Antelope Valley (1-1) picked up their first win of the season with a 78-64 win over Moorpark (0-2). Brandon Russell had 21 points and Justice De Corsi added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Raiders.

In the final game of the day, Tone Patton had 18 points and Lamont Sanders and Jacob Berry each added 12 points as Ventura (1-1) picked up their first win of the season with a 67-57 win over Pasadena (1-1). Josiah Woods had 17 points and was the only Lancer in double figures in the loss.


San Jose City College Tip Off Tournament Day #2

In the first game of the day, 3rd ranked Gavilan (2-0) overcame another halftime deficit to pick up a 80-75 win over Merced (1-1)

In the second game of the day, Anthony Dennis had 20 points and 7 rebounds and Talili Leaea added 14 points and 9 rebounds as Monterey (1-1) edged Chabot 64-59 to pick up their first win of the season. Akili Daniels had 17 points and Jordan McGlory added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for Chabot (1-1).

In other action in the bay, Jordan Mukenga had 15 points and Tarren Storey-Way added 14 points as Lassen (2-0) picked up another win picking up a 85-67 win over San Jose (0-2). Jose Bermudez had 19 points and Yakuba Mansaray added 18 points in the loss for the Jaguars.

In the finale of the night, Foothill (1-1) picked up their first win of the season with a 56-41 victory over 11th ranked Cosumnes River (0-2).


Santa Ana Tournament

In the championship game in Orange County, Jace Bass had 25 points and Jamiu Akinbile added 11 points and 10 rebounds as 10th ranked Long Beach (2-0) brought home the title with a 74-62 win over Santiago Canyon (1-1). Ajdin Toskic had 12 points and Lucas Holden added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the loss of for the Hawks.

In the consolation final, Kehasson Oulai had 21 points and 8 rebounds and Jaylen Wiltz added 14 points as Chaffey (1-1) cruised past Santa Ana 79-62 to pick up their first victory of the season. James Rowe had 16 points and Chris Bailey added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Santa Ana (0-2).


Fullerton, CA – (2) Fullerton 93 El Camino 73

Lance Coleman had 19 points and 9 rebounds and Ronne Readus added 10 points and 19 rebounds as 2nd ranked Fullerton (1-0) won their season opener 93-73 over El Camino (0-1). Jamal Howard had 20 points and Justin Chambers added 18 points in the loss for the Warriors.

Travis Raynor had 25 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists and Darren Calhoun added 17 points as Los Angeles Southwest (1-0) picked up a 89-85 win over Los Angeles Trade Tech (0-1).
