Signal The Light Basketball Northern California Player of the month for December

 Jordan Belasco “6-0” (So) San Joaquin Delta: Belasco help lead the Mustangs to a 6-2 record in the month of December. Belasco is among the state leader in assist and played a solid month of basketball. The sophomore guard averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 assist for the month of December. Belasco shot 43% from behind the three point line and shot 87% from the line in the month.

C: Zavon Jackson “6-5” (So) Cabrillo

As we look into our first team for the month of December we will find another apparence made by Jarrell Tate. Tate has been explosive all season and December was not any different. The freshman from Birmingham, Alabama averaged 27.5 points and had four 30 point games in the month of December. Tate also averaged 10.5 rebounds in the month of December. Sterling was a key factor in the Jaguars success in December. The “6-5” sophomore averaged 15.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in the month. Sterling scored a season high 27 points against Alameda on December 11th. Sterling leads San Jose in scoring on the season averaging 15.8 points as well. Corey Hammell made his mark by averaging 14.5 points and 11.7 rebounds in the month of December. Hammell had five double doubles in the eight games he participated in. He has played a big role for Santa Rosa this season. Troy Anderson has been a rebounding machine and has played a major role in the Mustangs season. Zavon Jackson continues to shine at Cabrillo. In the month of December, Jackson improved his offensive productivity and he averaged 17.1 points and 10.6 rebounds in the month of December. Jackson posted five double doubles in the month and had a 26 point and 10 rebound effort against Las Positas. Please read above for Jordan Belasco.

G: Ryo Tawatari “5-11” (So) Ohlone

G: Carlos Mancasola “6-4” (So) San Francisco

G: Diondrey Holt “6-3” (So) Lassen

F: Brantley Bynum “6-5” (So) Sequoias

C: Troy Anderson “6-5” (So) San Joaquin Delta

The second five is led by the leader of Ohlone College Ryo Tawatari. The sophomore point guard made a name for himself leading Ohlone to a 7-2 record in the month of December. Tawatari averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 assist in the month. He has been a key piece for the success of the Renegades. Mancasola increased his scoring output last month as the sophomore averaged 17.8 points and he shot 60% from behind the three point line (23-38). Mancasola shot the ball at a high level and helped San Francisco to a 4-2 record in the month of Decmeber. Diondrey Holt Jr. had a standout month for Lassen. The sophomore averaged 17.8 points and posted 31 points against Chabot and scored over 20 points three other times in the month of December. Holt leads the Cougars in scoring this season. Brantley Bynum continues to be a bright spot for Sequoias this season. Bynum averaged 20.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in December. Bynum posted back to back 30 point games against Canada and Butte and followed that up against West Hills scoring 28 points. Bynum leads the Giants in scoring this scoring averaging 17.1 points per game on the season and is shooting 83% from the line. Troy Anderson put up 14.2 points and 12.7 rebounds in the month of December. Anderson is one of the best rebounders in the state and is the last member of our second five for December.

Freshman of the Month for December

Marquell Hubbard “6-2” (Columiba): Hubbard averaged 19.0 points and 3.7 assist for the month of December. Hubbard shot 47% from behind the three point line and scored over 20 points three times in the month. Hubbard exploded for 27 points against Yuba and went 6-7 from behind the three point line in that game. This season Hubbard has emerged on the scene and had a great freshman season for the Claimjumpers who are currently ranked 11th in our Northern California Signal The Light Basketball rankings.
