Cabrillo wins fifth straight with victory over Hartnell

Aptos, CA – Cabrillo 81 Hartnell 73

Linton Acliese had 22 points and Tynan Velasquez added 18 points as Cabrillo (12-9, 5-2) won their fifth straight game in conference action picking up a 81-73 win over Hartnell (12-9, 4-3). Dallin Mortensen had 24 points in the loss for the Panthers.

San Jose, CA – San Jose 71 Monterey 64

San Jose (5-15, 2-5) picked up their second win in conference with a  71-64 win over Monterey (12-11, 3-4). Deshawnte Collins had 22 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks and Marcus Wallace added 10 points in the loss for the Lobos.

Cupertino, CA – West Valley 68 De Anza 63

Orange Empire Conference

Orange, CA – (10) Santiago Canyon 104 Riverside 95

Rodney “Rocket” Henderson scored 30 points and had 10 rebounds and Antoine Jenkins added 30 points and made five three pointers as 10th ranked Santiago Canyon (17-6, 4-3) won their third game in a row with a 104-95 win over Riverside (12-9, 3-4). Andre Wilson had 23 points and Jordan Robinson added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for the Tigers in conference action.

Fullerton, CA – (6) Fullerton 87 Santa Ana 57

Jason Richardson had 17 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds and Khalil Stevenson added 17 points and 3 rebounds as 6th ranked Fullerton (16-6, 5-2) remained within a game of first place with a 87-57 crushing win over Santa Ana (8-12, 1-6). Cameron High had 16 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for Santa Ana.

Joshua Tree, CA – (8) Copper Mountain 75 Cypress 70 (OT)

Trevon Bentley had 23 points and sophomore Murshid Randle added 17 points as 8th ranked Copper Mountain (17-7, 4-3) needed overtime to slip past Cypress 75-70 on Friday evening. Randall Walker had 21 points and Brennon Palmer added 18 points in the loss for Cypress (8-14, 2-5).

Costa Mesa, CA – (13) Orange Coast 73 Irvine Valley 70

Llyod Wright had 20 points and 3 rebounds and Joshua Davis added 17 points and 8 rebounds as 13th ranked Orange Coast (15-7, 6-1) stayed in first place as the Pirates overcame a six point halftime deficit and edged Irvine Valley 73-70. Daniel Hernandez had 19 points and 5 rebounds and Jake Linsky added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for Irvine Valley (13-11, 2-5).

Big 8 Conference

Sacramento, CA – Diablo Valley 63 Cosumnes River 61

Brandynn Manning had 15 points and Ben Wood made four three pointers and had 14 points and 8 rebounds as Diablo Valley (12-11, 5-6) edged Cosumnes River 63-61 to keep their playoff hopes alive. Jordan Roberson had 23 points and 5 steals and DeRajaee Austin added 16 points in the loss for Cosumnes River (6-14, 2-8).

Folsom, CA – Sacramento 83 Sierra 69

Troy Owens had 22 points and Gabe Serna added 19 points as Sacramento (14-10, 6-5) picked up a 83-69 road victory over Sierra (11-11, 6-5) on Friday evening. Kenny Olsem had 22 points and 9 rebounds and Tre Finch added 12 points in the loss for the Wolverines.

Santa Rosa, CA – (5) Santa Rosa 86 (15) San Joaquin Delta 76

Skylar Chavez had 23 points and 7 rebounds and Jordan Graves added 13 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds as 5th ranked Santa Rosa (19-3, 7-0) won their 14th straight game with a 86-76 win over 15th ranked San Joaquin Delta (9-10, 6-4). John Berna had 17 points and Elijah Johnson added 14 points in the loss for the Mustangs.

Jackson Strong made five three pointers and had 21 points and 9 rebounds and Lavale Coleman-Bell added 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists as Palomar (12-11, 2-2) evened out their record with a 83-70 win over Desert (1-16, 0-4). Andre Allen had 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists and Philippe Salawa added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Roadrunners.

Chris Johnson had 15 points and Chidi Udengwu added 13 points and 8 rebounds as 3rd ranked San Bernardino (21-4, 5-0) remained undefeated in conference action with a 74-60 win over Mt. San Jacinto (11-13, 3-2). Davon Sanders had 13 points and 6 rebounds and A.J. Walton added 13 points in the loss for the Eagles.
